About this sitter
Soft spoken, calm, highly organized & clean. I have a green thumb and a big heart for me house sitting is enjoyable. Plus learning about your area and wildlife / nature photography is fun.
Pet parents are often surprised at how quickly my lap fills &/or head bumps occur. This year 2026, I am transitioning to local (northern & southern Colorado) sits with a focus on cats.
Dogs have been an integral part of my business and I love them. I walk a bit slower these days so it’s best if they are well trained with fenced yards and lots of toys.
Multi-species, rescue & elder pet experience. Your plants indoors and out get special care. Sits with no pets are also a specialty.

House sitting is a great way to be in close proximity to family & friends while enjoying local areas. Learning about your local history, bonding with pets all while capturing amazing wildlife photos is so rewarding.
Their experience
Experience: 12+ states 2016-present with occasional breaks to work seasonal jobs. During the pandemic I rented & worked in Colorado with long sits resuming spring 2022 (3-9 months each) in AZ, CA, CO, & NM.
A combination of city & rural (1-40 acres) with outbuildings, orchards, lakes, & more. Security alarms, cameras, gated & HOA, onsite Airbnb, renters (separate entrance). Homeowners like my ability to remain calm during weather or other events. The goal is to I keep your property safe & pets loved and on schedule. With rising costs I prefer close proximity to grocery, farmers markets and other stores &/or delivery services.
While this site shows 17 completed sits the list is longer and I have references (some local to you) on request. I completed several MMH sits in the early years of this journey (Fort Collins, Denver). Suffice to say I can provide pet specific references, often local.
Equipment: wood & pellet stoves, generators, mowers, out buildings. Chickens, snow removal, wildlife & bird feeding. Orchards, greenhouses, care & use of vehicles & more. To date no loss of property or pet under my care.

Communication with pictures keeps you informed and able to relax. Transitioning from long term sits & travel to shorter local sits with and without pets.

Guardian Angel
Kathy was our four-year-old kitties' guardian angel while we were out of the country for a month during the Festive Season. Chamomile and Espresso both warmed up to her right away and her regular photos demonstrated that they felt secure and cared for by her. She is a good communicator and kept us fully informed not only about the cats but also about our home. During a period of unusually high winds in our local area, she moved fragile items to safety on both of our patios. And she took good care of our indoor plants. She travels light and has an efficient system that allows her to settle into the house and quickly feel at home. She spent most of her time at home, so the cats frequently had her company day and night. She is totally trustworthy and reliable; she does what she says she will. She knows cats and is highly experienced in caring for cats. She even left us good recommendations on how to improve our kitties' lives. Super Reliable & Helpful!
Kathy sat for me on a long trip of over 6 weeks. She took great care of my 2 kitties and bonded well with them... even the scaredy one (but who's actually quite sweet). The house was in very good hands, well cared for. Kathy was helpful with a couple of things that arose during my trip that needed attention, and I just felt secure about my home while I was away - isn't that what anyone would most want? Kathy was great
Kathy was great. Sent photos. For some reason Peanut was barking while she was there but she communicated and my ideas worked and Peanut settled after the first day. I arrived home quite late and at my invitation Kathy stayed an extra day. When we went up to bed Peanut was at her door trying to get in!! LOL. Clearly they had bonded. House was in same condition as when I left; couldn't ask for more than that. I enjoyed chatting with Kathy over a tea. Would definitely recommend that you have her pet/house sit. Thanks Kathy

I can't say enough good things about Kathy
I can't say enough good things about Kathy. She was highly professional from beginning to end, and my cat loved her. She was able to handle unexpected issues without breaking a sweat. My water heater sprung a leak while I was gone, and she seamlessly coordinated with a plumber to have a new one (upgraded model that I choose) installed the next day. She also handled minor sprinkler issue with the help of my neighbor, who had nothing but praise for her. Highly recommended. I would not hesitate to use her again.

Just what the doctored ordered
Kathy McElveny was just what the doctored ordered. She bonded with our 3 cats quickly, keep us appraised of how they were doing, sent us pictures of our babies and gave us peace of mind while we took a month off to do a road trip from the west coast to the east coast and back again. She took one of our babies to the vet when needed, secured our home during a fall storm and keep the house in good order for our return. We would recommend her for taking care of YOUR babies when you need someone to give you peace of mind for your travels.

We could not have found a better fit for our first house sitter. Kathy is extremely conscientious and caring, She kept our home in tip-top shape while we were traveling and went way above and beyond expectations.
