We are Richard and Marguerite, a dependable, active and caring married couple with 46 years together and extensive professional experience in leadership, safeguarding, hospitality and the responsible management of homes. We recently completed a successful house-sitting assignment in France, caring for two cats and their home, and can provide an excellent verified testimonial.
We are particularly seeking a UK house and pet-sitting assignment from 5 January to end of February 2027. We are available for the full five weeks and are open to locations throughout the United Kingdom. We would also consider two consecutive assignments covering this period.
Yes. We have many years of experience caring responsibly for homes and animals, including our own much-loved pets throughout our married life. We recently completed a successful house and cat-sitting assignment in France, where we cared for two cats and maintained their home carefully throughout the owners’ absence.
Our professional backgrounds as headteachers, house parents and senior managers required exceptional trustworthiness, safeguarding, organisation and responsibility. We have also managed large residential properties and understand the importance of security, cleanliness, regular communication and following an owner’s instructions precisely.
We are calm and confident with animals of different ages and temperaments, including those that are shy, elderly or require extra reassurance. Marguerite is also the author of Be an Animal Whisperer, inspired by her lifelong experience of understanding and caring for animals.
We bring reliability, maturity, kindness and a quietly professional approach. Your pets will receive attentive and affectionate care, with their feeding, exercise, medication and established routines followed exactly. We understand that remaining in familiar surroundings helps animals feel secure while their owners are away.
Your home will be treated with the same respect and care as our own. We are clean, organised and security-conscious, and we are capable of handling household matters calmly and sensibly. As a couple, we can share responsibilities and ensure that the home and pets are rarely left unattended for long periods.
We are non-smokers, hold clean driving licences and will provide regular updates and photographs for your reassurance. Above all, we offer genuine peace of mind: your animals will be loved, your home will be protected, and everything entrusted to us will be cared for conscientiously.

Testimonials
Happy cats - perfect house sitters
A big ‘thank you’ to Richard and Marguerite who looked after our cats and house for 7 weeks in January and February. They were very caring, friendly responsible sitters who kept us totally up to date with the house, the post, their travels and, of course, the cats. We felt very comfortable that all would go well and were welcomed back to a tidy house, contented cats and a delicious meal which we shared with them before they left for home the following day. There was not much opportunity for them to show off their gardening skills because of the time of year, but have little doubt that they would have been equally able in this. We wish them well for the future.
