About this sitter
Hey there! We are Sam and Stella Elaine. We are both full-time professional Software Developers. He works in Cloud Networking, and Stella Elaine focuses on Front-End React Native. Our time nomadic housesitting on Trusted Housesitters has made us flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with everything from quirky properties, tricky doorsteps, and shy or reactive pets. We are both introverts and homebodies, but we do love seeing new recommendations.
We are both sober and enjoy sci-fi and board games! ( Stella is a big Star Trek fan) If you have any fun shows or book recommendations, please don’t be shy. ??
Why they want to house sit
We are Sam, Stella, and Elaine, and we are excited to offer house-sitting services as we travel across the USA before moving to the Netherlands in Spring 2026. ???
We are currently primarily based in Washington, D.C, and are fully nomadic through the THS platform.
Their experience
My most interesting stories revolve around cats. For instance, I once came home from work to find the foster cat I had introduced the night before was pregnant! Her new kittens were born in my bed! I have cared for young cats, spayed cats, and elderly cats with gum disease.
What can they bring to the assignment
We also believe that quality pet and home care should be accessible for all families, not an overpriced luxury. Samuel and I both work remotely so that we can offer dedicated, live-in care and a consistent presence for your pets from morning to night. My goal is to make sure your pets feel secure, enriched, and loved while you’re away, and to keep your home cared for just as you would.
We have hands-on experience with dogs who have reactivity or separation anxiety, as well as senior pets who need extra patience, young puppies with endless energy, and middle-aged cats who prefer a little personal space.

Stella and Sam were reliable and communicated enough for a short sit. They took very good care of our garden in a very hot week. Our cat didn’t spend much time with Stella and Sam even though they tried to get him to connect. That is Spike’s temperament sometimes. We knew Spike was safe and cared for by Stella and Sam.

Stella and Sam were great sitters and house keepers. We would welcome them back anytime. Ready communication. Clean. Caring. Organized. All the things you'd want to feel comfortable leaving your pet and home behind. I got the sense they really enjoyed their time with Rufus, giving him plenty of attention and exercise. They were very thoughtful in their many questions and planning to make sure everything went smoothly. And, in the little time we got to spend with them in advance, my wife and I really enjoyed the conversation.

Wonderful sitters

Stella and Sam were phenomenal--we hit the jackpot with these two! They were clear and prompt communicators. They're organized and asked great questions to help us be on the same page. They gave love and attention and exercise and enrichment to our dog. They sent regular photos and videos while we were away. They cleaned our dog's gunky ear daily until his ear infection cleared up. They prepared their own food, washed our linens, and left our house tidy and our car full of gas. They are a sweet couple, and anyone would be lucky to have them safeguard their home, car, and fur babies. FULL STARS!!!

Sam and Stella are God sent. My husband and I travelled abroad for 15 days while Sam and Stella house/dog sat for us. They are caring, loving and playful with the dogs. They went above and beyond to take care of each of our three fur babies needs. They took them on walks every day. The dogs got their daily exercise and my friends from the neighborhood would text me that they saw the dogs enjoying their walks around the neighborhood. Our youngest pup got her first heat while we were gone. Sam and Stella took care of her like their own fur baby. They were extremely understanding of her unprecedented situation which meant supervision on walks, around unneutered dogs, additional clean ups around the house, etc. I can’t recommend them more! I trust Sam and Stella with my babies and we were lucky to find them.

Booked again
Stella and Samuel showed up on time, spent time with the dogs while we were gone, took the three of my dogs on multiple walks during their stay and left the house clean. Stella was amazing with her communication throughout the process. The most important and touching element of their sit was that Stella sent me updates along with pictures of the dogs without I having to ask for them - which I extremely appreciate. I have already booked them for upcoming month because I trust them with the dogs.
