About this sitter

Hello !

My name is Sophie, and I am a senior at Vassar College. In my free time, I enjoy soccer, boxing, writing poetry, cooking, and even the occasional Rubik’s cube. This winter break, I’m hoping to find a quiet house sit in the Bay Area, CA. I’ll have plenty of free time to give attentive care to your animals, plants, and home — making sure everything is safe, clean, and well looked after while you’re away.

Why they want to house sit

I want to house sit because I genuinely enjoy caring for animals and creating a safe, comfortable environment while their people are away. Growing up with a large dog and volunteering in shelters taught me patience, respect, and responsibility. I also value being a respectful and clean presence in someone’s home — it feels good to give pet owners peace of mind knowing their pets and space are in caring hands.

This winter, I’ll also be preparing for the LSAT, so I’m looking for a private, quiet space to study. Since I’ll be spending a lot of time at home, I’ll have plenty of attention to give to your pets, plants, and house needs. Having animals around brightens my day and gives me the perfect reason to take breaks and get outside.

Their experience

Yes. I’ve built experience with animals in many settings over the years. Growing up, my family had a 90-pound Akita, so I’m very comfortable with large, strong-willed dogs. When I was 15, I attended a week-long puppy camp in Florida where I learned about raising and training service dogs — an experience that gave me a foundation in handling, patience, and consistency. I’ve also volunteered with the Milo Foundation and Family Dog Rescue, caring for dogs and cats of all sizes. More recently, I’ve been house sitting for friends and neighbors: Rosie (a 10-lb dog) and Jack (about 60 lbs), and two black labs — one a 13-year-old senior and one an energetic 8-month-old puppy. These opportunities taught me how to adapt to different ages, temperaments, and needs, while keeping pets safe, happy, and cared for.

What can they bring to the assignment

I bring reliability, clear communication, and a respectful presence in your home. I know how important it is for pets to stick to their routines, so I follow instructions carefully and make sure they feel safe and cared for. Furthermore, I’m clean, organized, and will leave your home just as I found it. Most importantly, I treat each pet like they’re my own — with patience, attention, and plenty of love.

My family has had poor experiences with dog sitters in the past, so I understand the level of attentiveness and care that pet owners want for their furry friends!
