75 years young, German national, retired sports/English teacher, western riding instructor, massage therapist, owner of several wooden sailing ships (all restored single handed), crew/captain on a charter catamaran in the Caribbean ...
10 years ago I had to change my life completely due to a victorious battle with cancer, which left me with a partial facial Parese, my right ear missing and my left eye blind, but it is not a big handicap. It is amazing how mind and body can adapt!
Since 2017 I am doing long term house sits in Europe, (Spain, France and Germany), because I cannot go back to my Caribbean boat life and feel too young to just retire.
My house sits have all been in remote settings, often with lots of animals and big properties, so being alone for long periods of time is NOT a problem for me, just the opposite!
The last 3 years I took care of the property of a friend of mine, who spent 1/2 year in India, She then asked me, after leaving her Indian business for good, to move in with her 89 year old mother, who sadly died 7 months later. The family asked me to stay on in their family chateau/vineyard as 'guard dog' - they had lots of valuables there. Now, that the chateau has been sold I am looking for an other long term assignment
Because I love it and am too energetic and young to just retire.

Testimonials
Perfect
Ulrike looked after our house and cat for three months. The handover and communication during our trip were excellent. She immediately bonded wonderfully with our cat, and we felt completely at ease knowing Ulrike was staying in our home. Her age was not an issue at all—quite the opposite; we were delighted to have found such a capable woman with so much life experience. Upon our return, we were welcomed with a delicious meal, and the house and property were exactly as we had left them. Most importantly, we were greeted by a wonderfully relaxed cat.

Still very trustworthy!
Ulrike has done 2 housesits for us, one of 10 days and one of almost 5 weeks. She has done a very good job and our cats were still very happy when we returned. Don't let her age put you off, she is definitely not an old woman. She is a very tough lady, very trustworthy and she can handle any situation. The war in the Middle East started while we were traveling on the other side of the world, so we had some problems getting back to France at the end of our travels. We had a lot of stress, were stuck and were forced to extend our stay for 5 days. But no stress from Ulrike, we were very reassured that she would take of our cats and home. She is flexibel and pro-active and will help in any way she can. She also had some great advice for several things and even taught us about some wild plants on our land which we can use. Highly recommended!

Very friendly and trustworthy
Ulrike took care of our 4 cats and Mas Linda. Our contact has been (and still is) very good from the start. Unfortunately for Ulrike it started to rain in the area and didn't stop until we returned 10 days later. She really took good care of the cats and the property in difficult circumstances. She acted when needed and found her way with the cats as well. One of them is challenging, but she managed to keep her eating and have her take her medicine. I am looking forward with confidence to her next 'minding' job at Mas Linda in February.
