About this sitter

Hi hi! My name is Abby. I graduated from college in 2024 and started my own business earlier this year. I’m currently living with my parents, helping take care of our labs (Murphy, 2 y/o and Scout, 13 y/o). I’d love to find some wonderful places to visit, explore, work from home or nearby cafes, and hopefully have some furry friends to pet and hang out with! I'd love to be close to nature in some way, but also love the fun of being near a town for cafes/bookstores/restaurants.
I love to cook, so having a well-stocked kitchen is a definite bonus. If you're able to allow me to use your car, I have car insurance, a driver's license, and no accidents or tickets in my history. If a car is needed, I'll either road trip to you or rent a car from the nearest airport. I'm a big fan of public transit, though - so if I don't need a car, that's even better! I will be working every day with some breaks for exploring, walking a pup, or whatever else you might need. So fast wifi is needed.

Why they want to house sit

Living at home has been great to save money and build my business, but I get restless staying in one place. I want to house sit so I can explore different parts of the US (maybe eventually the world) while still having some daily responsibilities to keep me in a routine. I’ve realized that if I don’t have something else going on (walking a dog, watering plants, etc), I get super sucked in to work and spend all day sitting in one spot. I’d love to mix up my somewhat boring routine by traveling new places, walking new dogs, hiking new trails, snacking at new bakeries, trying new coffee spots, reading more books - I just want to experience as much as I can while I’m in this more fluid stage of my life! Because I can be so flexible with my work schedule, why not take advantage of that and work from new places?

Their experience

I’m quite experienced in dog/pet sitting, less experienced in house sitting. I worked on Rover and Wag throughout college, so understand taking care of someone else’s family members. While I have never house sat (yet!), I consider myself quite clean, respectful of my surroundings, and eager to leave a place better than I found it. I often take care of my grandmother or neighbor's cats when they're out of town, plus I lived with a cat for 6 months in college. Cats tend to like me a lot because I don't get in their business - I'm definitely more of a dog person! I'm simply just not as well versed in cats, but I do find them very cute and entertaining (when they want to entertain me).

What can they bring to the assignment

I can bring a personable approach to taking care of your home and pets, reaching out every day to check in if wanted. I’ll make your home and pets my top priority, working with your routine and wishes to make sure you can travel free of worries.
I have two dogs of my own at home, plus I fostered a reactive rescue named Lana for several months last year. We worked together and with a trainer to make sure we could be comfortable and confident when around her triggers (mainly other dogs when we were out on walks). When walking/sitting dogs through Wag and Rover, I worked with several different dog personalities, so I feel confident I can bring whatever level of companionship your pups need.
