About this sitter

With more than 35 years of experience in nonprofit management, academic research development, and collaborative grantseeking, I have trained thousands and helped secure millions in funding for nonprofits and academic libraries. I am a published author of three how-to guides, available in 1,074 libraries around the world, ensuring my work can help others. Alongside this professional work, I’ve owned and co-managed over 13 properties (currently overseeing three with long-term tenants). And, I'm bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish.

In semi-retirement life, my part-time consulting practice blends occasional in-person and remote facilitation, leading or training groups of 14 to 120 participants at conferences, universities, and libraries across the US. Beyond my professional life, I’ve spent a decade camping extensively in state and national parks, which has nurtured my reliability, flexibility, and ability to thrive in diverse environments.

I’m excited to combine my passion for travel with property, plant, and pet care while continuing my remote work. I especially love caring for plants—orchids in particular—and I’ve enjoyed many years of companionship with a Samoyed and three Mexican hairless dogs, along with the delight of hanging out with my friends’ cats.

As a classically trained musician, I bring precision, attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for cultural and live performance experiences. My background includes chamber music, symphonic bands, solo recitals, church services, and even performing with a world-class bagpipe band—all of which reflect my commitment to excellence and reliability.

Why they want to house sit

I'm seeking the flexibility to travel affordably while connecting with “strangers” (collaborating with strangers is my research focus) and enhancing my life experiences in new locations. These experiences enhance my life and make me happy.

Their experience

Yes, I have cared for my own properties in California, Arizona, and multiple Florida cities, and have assisted friends and family with all sorts of home improvement projects, moving, and offering supportive assistance as needed with property and personal caring. I recently assisted a long-time friend with his house sit (7 days) in Knoxville, TN. He introduced me to Mind My House opportunities.

What can they bring to the assignment

I offer reliability, commitment, familiarity with basics in terms of property management and maintenance, and a detail oriented and caring personality. As a professional collaborative facilitator, owners can expect the same level of excellence in communication and consistency received by my clients and their constituents since 1995.
