About this sitter

60-year-old artist, freelance designer and nomadic worker looking for unique house sits this winter (and beyond) when work slows down, possibly with my husband for some or part of the time.

Why they want to house sit

I crave the stimulation that comes with travel and exploration, but It’s important to me to do so responsibly. Caring for someone else’s animals and/or home for a defined period of time allows for a non-financialized, reciprocal relationship, very different from the impact of travelling as a tourist. For me, it becomes an opportunity to experience other places in a grounded and affordable way.

Their experience

I have lived with animals (mostly dogs, cats at times) all my life and with my husband have raised our two sons in the home that we have owned in Gloucester, Massachusetts for 20+ years. While I am new to housesitting, I would bring the same care and respect to someone else’s home as I would expect from anyone staying in my own home.

What can they bring to the assignment

In addition to my domestic experience (see above), I am reasonably good at fixing things, know my way around a toolshed/garden/yard, have a pretty easygoing attitude about things, plenty of curiosity and knowhow, strong communication skills, and am patient, empathetic and generally quite flexible. I am happy to discuss any/all of this (Facetime or similar) and can provide personal and professional references if that would be helpful.
