About this sitter

We (Mihaela and Filip) are a Bulgarian couple on a diploma journey in Iberia. We have two adorable cats that are currently home in Sofia with one of our mothers.

We’ve been pet/house sitting in Spain/Portugal since December 2024, both dogs and cats, and sometimes farm animals. We are both designers with experience in gardening, natural building, and land regeneration. I chair a small NGO, and consult/support others, while my partner provides IT support. We mostly work as volunteers.

Why they want to house sit

We are currently on a diploma journey in Iberia. We’ve met with other pet/house sitters in one of the places we were at the same time in Spain, and they shared with us this website. We love animals and at the same time we need the peace and quiet of a home where we can work on our diplomas. We are looking for long-term options mostly, so we can concentrate on our creative work, but we can easily combine it with pet/house/garden/pool care.

Their experience

We both grew up with cats and dogs, and other animals when being in the province. We currently have two cats (not traveling with us) and have been house/pet sitting in the last year in Iberia. We love animals, and plants and we enjoy being in nature and in the garden. We are great hosts - we’ve been highly rated in both Couchsurfing and AirBnB for years, always 5 stars and superhost badges.

What can they bring to the assignment

As mentioned above we are experienced with pets and farm animals, but also taking a good care for the house with our (not only) AirBnB experience as superhost, but also as designers and people with a good sense of space, tidiness and hygiene.

We have regenerative landscape design background, but also qualified in IT and Organisational and Project Management. Often we leave advice for people’s gardens when we are asked for one or we notice a disease on the plants, for instance.

Taking care of houses of people often involves small maintenance of the place when needed like changing bulbs, batteries, etc. or even taking care of the owner’s car if needed. We are independent with our vehicles though. We travel by car and bikes.
