My name is Kevin. I am a retired Police Officer with 47 years of service, including many years in child protection. My career required honesty, reliability, and attention to detail — qualities I now bring to house- and pet-sitting. In retirement I have the freedom to travel, and I truly enjoy giving homeowners peace of mind, knowing their pets and homes are in safe hands.

Why they want to house sit

I have always had a love of animals, and house-sitting allows me to enjoy their company while helping others. For me, it’s not just about looking after a property — it’s about ensuring pets feel happy, secure, and cared for while their families are away.

Their experience

Since retiring, I have cared for dogs of many breeds and temperaments — from energetic young pups needing patience and consistency, to elderly dogs requiring a quieter, gentler approach. My wife and I also owned a German Shepherd who we loved dearly. He was a challenging boy at times, but with training and persistence he became a well loved family member. Sadly, he passed away suddenly, and although we were too upset to bring another dog into our home, this experience inspired me to look after other people’s pets. It allows me to continue enjoying the companionship of animals while giving owners peace of mind.
I am also confident caring for cats and smaller pets, making sure they are fed, comfortable, and well loved. Every pet is different, and I adapt to their routines and personalities with patience and kindness.

What can they bring to the assignment

Respect for people’s property was second nature throughout my policing career, and I bring the same attitude to house-sitting. I keep homes tidy, secure, and welcoming. Over the years I have maintained my own home and am confident with general DIY tasks and basic maintenance — from keeping everything running smoothly to dealing with the occasional small repair. While I am not a qualified tradesman, I am practical and resourceful, able to prevent minor issues from becoming larger problems. I am also happy to take care of light household tasks so that everything is in good order when you return.
