Conscientious and caring retired couple for assignments in Europe

About this sitter

We are Val and Phil, UK nationals who have been resident in SW France for the last 20+ years. Now retired, we are physically fit and healthy, (a necessity for continuing the restoration and maintenance of our old stone house with sizeable garden and veg plot!) We have travelled extensively in France, Spain and Portugal in our a motorhome and enjoy visiting other countries, so we're fluent in French but have picked up a bit of Spanish too. We are used to rural living but also like city life.

Why they want to house sit

We think MindMyHouse is a great way to enable home/pet owners to go away and sitters to experience different surroundings and give love to temporary pets. We miss having pets of our own, but now isn't the right time, so why not 'borrow' someone else's? ?

Their experience

We have extensive house/pool/garden and pet sitting experience locally. Previous assignments include two Irish wolfhounds and a Belgian shepherd, so we are confident with large and small breeds alike. Former dog and cat owners, we have also fostered animals for a local charity, raised two litters of abandoned kittens and rescued several injured animals in the local countryside. Last year we volunteered at an animal sanctuary in Spain. Our previous dog suffered from cancer, which involved changing her dressings on a daily basis for months.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are adaptable and practical, can cope in most situations, and would treat your home with respect and love your pets like our own. We are trustworthy and communicative and can provide testimonials upon request (though some are in French!)
