Reliable 68 year old retired man and have had cats, dogs and fish my entire life

About this sitter

I’m a 68 year old single man. I was married for 38 years, have 2 sons, 6 grandkids and two great grandkids. I’m an incredible dad, Papa and Great Papa.
I’ve been retired for 7 years and have been traveling the U.S. since then. I’m a non smoker and tidy person. I’m also, an animal lover so this is a perfect way to get my animal fix and visit places I’ve not been before.
I’ve had dogs, cats and fish my entire life. Presently I have no animals.
I fostered a dog for a while, but got too attached to him and had to quit.
I’m reliable, honest and trustworthy.
I rent an apartment to traveling nurses in my basement occasionally, and understand respect for someone else’s home.
I’m an artist, author and poet. I was a chef in an Italian restaurant as a teen. ( crazy story) I played rugby for the Denver Barbarians right out of high school.
I was a brick mason and volunteer fireman in my 20’s.
I retired as an elevator mechanic having worked for the same company for 40 years. I’m very proud of that.
I come from a big, loving, non-judgmental, non racist left wing family.
I facilitate three Men’s groups that focus on finding our feminine side as well as becoming the best person we can be. Because of this I have many, supportive, male friends that are very dear to me. I date a lot but haven’t found the right woman yet. I’m very excited to begin this new chapter of my life, caring for furry kids.

Why they want to house sit

My sister has been doing it for 3 years and loves it so I decided I’d like to do it as well, plus, at present, I miss my animals. My best friend Scooter had to be euthanized due to hip problems and the grief was overwhelming so, rest assured, your pets are in good hands.

Their experience

Having just started, I’ve only done one assignment, watching one cat for 5 days.
I have, however, house sat many times for friends or family.
My only other experience is taking care of my own animals starting as a child with a chihuahua, Pepe, and three cats, Pee Wee, Opus and Mothercat.
I had a 55 gallon fresh water tank with zebras, rasboras, tetras, barbs, catfish, plecostimous and, of course, guppies. I had that tank from my early teens until I had a wife and two sons.
I’ve stayed at my sister’s house and taken care of her two cats. I did that, off and on for many years. I also took care of a friend’s dog and tropical fish several times. Not much of a real resume, I know.
