About this sitter
We are a friendly, animal-loving couple travelling slowly since January 2025. We love settling into a new place long enough to explore it at a relaxed pace. We are looking forward to meeting wonderful people and animals, looking after a home with care, and experiencing local life as we travel.
Why they want to house sit
We have been travelling since January 2025, exploring new places and visiting friends. We think that house and pet sitting is a great way to combine our love of animals, meeting new people and exploring new places.
Their experience
Bethany previously owned both a dog and a very smart cat — smart enough that she trained her cat to do a whole range of tricks! She also has experience administering oral medications, both tablets and liquid. Together, we’ve looked after pets for friends, giving lots of playtime, cuddles and calm companionship. Eduardo loves hands-on tasks and happily takes on DIY or garden maintenance if needed.

Australian, Venezuelan or Brits?.
When Bethany and Eduardo first approached us they were very open about the fact that they'd never house sat before which gave us some slight concern but, after a video call and further discussions through WhatsApp, we felt comfortable with leaving them in charge of our animals and rambling old house for the period that we planned to be away. Having collected them from a local railway station we spent a day briefing them and showing them the ropes after which we felt confident to depart in the knowledge that we were leaving all in good hands. Whilst away we were in regular contact but had no major issues to contend with. On our return it was obvious that the house and animals had been well cared for with the house being as clean, if not cleaner, than it was when we left. Shortly before our return they advised that their next location was not ready to take them when they finished with us and they asked if they could stay on for a further week. We were happy to agree to this on the understanding that this would be on a WorkAway basis where they would be required to help with the house and grounds in return for board and lodgings. Once again this arrangement worked well for us all with Eduardo really helping with tidying up around the grounds while Bethany did a bit in the garden and also helped around the house, in particular, helping to instal Christmas decorations in the house and gite. Any concerns/comments? Only that they had recently returned from travels in Asia and, despite the central heating being on full time, they obviously felt that the old house was draughty and a little on the cool side. Consequently the 'old peoples chairs' next to the kitchen log burner became favoured haunts and my log pile took a hammering 😂. All said this was a little price to pay for the care they took of everything for us and for giving us the opportunity to get away and spend some quality time with good friends in the UK. We would happily have them back at any time and can strongly recommend to other home owners. As a footnote, Bethany liked to do her Yoga on the patio in the morning and all of the animals seemed to enjoy this as a spectator sport😊.
