About this sitter
I've been petsitting almost continuously since 2019, in parallel to my part-time job as an Archivist.
Originally from Scotland, I used to travel a lot and lived overseas for about 15 years, mostly in East Asia (India, Japan, South Korea). I'm now based permanently in London and love longer sits with dear animal friends.
Although I'm primarily a solo sitter, since early 2025 I've been joined a few nights a week by my partner, Rob. He's a fellow animal lover and has been a great help, especially on a recent sit where a vet visit was required (I've included a photo of him in full cat-whisperer mode!).
So I'm looking for sits that would be happy to have 1.5 sitters in this way.
Why they want to house sit
Before I started petsitting as a lifestyle in 2019, I had house and pet-sat many times, for days, weeks and months at a time (from Kathmandu to the Shetland Isles!). Mostly for friends who were frequent travellers like myself, but also sometimes they would recommend me to friends of theirs.
When work brought me to London, I initially flat-shared. Two things made me look into petsitting: I was accustomed to living alone and it was not possible to have a pet. So I thought I'd give petsitting a try.
I was offered one sit which went great, so applied for another and... quite quickly it became a lifestyle choice that has been working brilliantly since 2019. It has brought multiple blessings, including my ability to work part-time while saving money for my own modest Grand Designs build one day! Mostly though the greatest joy has been in the form of time with beloved animal companions.

What can they bring to the assignment
First and foremost, that I genuinely love animals. I relate to them as friends and while I'm with my pet clients, their welfare and comfort are my top priority. I always say that your companion(s) will receive as much love as they're willing to accept - gotta respect those personal boundaries!
In addition, although I'm not paid, I do consider this to be my profession and I'm consistent, reliable and resourceful enough to deal with any problems if they arise.

Huge thanks again to Gillian and her partner Rob for looking after Edith while we were away for a month in Tokyo. Even though we were in another time zone we could feel confident that our somewhat elderly furry bestie was receiving 5 star treatment with regular gentle head massages! We feel very lucky to have found Gillian! Our cat Marcel was clearly in very good hands during our fortnight away. She's obviously a real animal lover. She was very communicative before and during the sit. She unexpectedly had to deal with a nasty wound from a cat fight on his ear, which she spotted and initially treated with salt water. When it wasn't healing she contacted the vet for advice, which was a good call as he needed antibiotics. She dealt with everything calmly and competently. She left the house spotless, with the bedlinen laundered. We would definitely have her to sit again!

We were so grateful that Gillian was able to step in for a last-minute sit with Rooney. Communication was smooth and easy from the start, and we really appreciated the photo updates during our trip. Gillian took great care of my cat Dre
Gillian took great care of my cat Dre. She kept me up to date with her travelschedule and Dre and I met Gillian one day before I left. Gillian gave me regular updates and pictures of Dre’s wellbeing. My house was clean and tidy when I came home. But most important, Dre was happy and relaxed! Gillian is always welcome to take care of Dre again!

Big thanks
Gillian was our cat sitter for a long stay (2 months) and we chose her because of her many excellent reviews and experience. It was such a relief to find her because our little elderly cat Edith was still recovering from some dental surgery at the time of our trip. As well as looking after Edith and our plants, Gillian also very kindly posted some things we needed! The safest pair of hands
Gillian was an incredible sitter and if I could give more than 5 stars I would. Reliable and quick to respond she took brilliant care of my three cats. We came back to happy cats and a flat that was absolutely spotless. If you are having any doubts about using a sitter then Gillian is the safest pair of hands to look after your pets and your home. Gillian was an absolute dream
Gillian was an absolute dream! She sent a picture of Smudge every morning, and Smudge took to her immediately—curled up on Gillian's lap before I even boarded the train! Gillian is your answer
This was Gillian’s second extended sit looking after Rosie & Dave. I can’t speak highly enough of Gillian, first and foremost the care, attention & love she showed for R&D was second to none. She quickly formed a very strong bond with them & took their welfare very seriously. Very self sufficient, but very good at giving regularly updates, very much one to bring solutions rather than problems. The flat was kept immaculately during both stays. She feels like family already to me. She is so kind, very self sufficient, very clean, tidy, respectful and easy going. Thats my experience with her. I was in a hectic time at work so my response time wasn’t great she was very flexible in terms of time and everything. Left the house absolutely in perfect shape. Gillian was an exceptional sitter who took wonderful care of our home and Milo for the long weekend. A brilliant sitter
Gillian was a brilliant sitter. The kitties were very well looked after and enjoying cuddling and playing. Gillian had excellent communication throughout the sit. We received daily pics and a short update of the day, which we loved. The house was spotless when we got home and she even left us milk and a lovely bread loaf which was an unexpected but lovely touch. We’d love to have Gillian sit for us again.

Gillian is the real deal
Gillian is the real deal. She is a true pet lover and was a fantastic pet sitter for our cat, Comet. We had great communications ahead of the sit and felt very confidant leaving for our summer holidays, knowing our cat would be well looked after. Gillian was also attentive and diligent in her care of our home, taking in parcels, leaving it spotless and she was very easy to communicate with and thought ahead when anticipating our return. Gillian was an excellent cat sitter for our fur baby! She stayed at our place for a month during Christmas time and was the perfect match for our lovely Agatha. Gillian has a lot of experience with cat sitting and it shows! From the start, she inspired confidence with good questions and honest reassurance. Agatha was visibly enchanted by her. Gillian took great care of her; she invented new games, bought new toys, brushed her several time a day and took great care of her when she vomited a couple of times. Gillian was really great with our dog, who loved her right away. She took good care of him and the apartment and left Tayto happy and our home spotless. Gillian was fantastic
Gillian was fantastic and we would love to have her back anytime. She gave our kitty lots of love. She was also very open to giving our kitty her medication and lots of play time. Gillian was absolutely wonderful
Gillian was absolutely wonderful from our first conversation, arranging to come by several weeks before the sit to meet Juno in person and get an overview of her routine. Communication leading up to the sit was very easy, and it was possible for me to leave for my holiday ahead of Gillian's arrival later the same day. She was very considerate in asking me ahead of time how frequently I would like her to update me with texts and photos while I was away - since, as an experienced pet/house sitter, she realized that everyone has different expectations on such things. I received regular daily messages keeping me informed that all was well as Gillian and Juno got to know one another, and I felt very reassured that Juno was in the best hands possible during my time away. Normally, Juno takes her time in opening up to new people - but with Gillian, she warmed up quickly and by the end of the sit, she was clearly relaxed and happy, having Gillian administer belly rubs on demand :). Upon my return home, I found my flat in pristine condition - Gillian went far above and beyond the call of duty to leave the flat immaculate and the garden tidied plus (oat) milk and OJ in the fridge for the morning. Thank you Gillian! Juno and I will definitely look forward to another chance to invite you back!
