Pet-loving Archivist hoping to provide holiday love for your beloved animal friends

About this sitter

I've been petsitting almost continuously since 2019, in parallel to my part-time job as an Archivist.

Originally from Scotland, I used to travel a lot and lived overseas for about 15 years, mostly in East Asia (India, Japan, South Korea). I'm now based permanently in London and love longer sits with dear animal friends.

Although I'm primarily a solo sitter, since early 2025 I've been joined a few nights a week by my partner, Rob. He's a fellow animal lover and has been a great help, especially on a recent sit where a vet visit was required (I've included a photo of him in full cat-whisperer mode!).

So I'm looking for sits that would be happy to have 1.5 sitters in this way.

Why they want to house sit

Before I started petsitting as a lifestyle in 2019, I had house and pet-sat many times, for days, weeks and months at a time (from Kathmandu to the Shetland Isles!). Mostly for friends who were frequent travellers like myself, but also sometimes they would recommend me to friends of theirs.

When work brought me to London, I initially flat-shared. Two things made me look into petsitting: I was accustomed to living alone and it was not possible to have a pet. So I thought I'd give petsitting a try.

I was offered one sit which went great, so applied for another and... quite quickly it became a lifestyle choice that has been working brilliantly since 2019. It has brought multiple blessings, including my ability to work part-time while saving money for my own modest Grand Designs build one day! Mostly though the greatest joy has been in the form of time with beloved animal companions.

What can they bring to the assignment

First and foremost, that I genuinely love animals. I relate to them as friends and while I'm with my pet clients, their welfare and comfort are my top priority. I always say that your companion(s) will receive as much love as they're willing to accept - gotta respect those personal boundaries!

In addition, although I'm not paid, I do consider this to be my profession and I'm consistent, reliable and resourceful enough to deal with any problems if they arise.
