About this sitter

Dear homeowners! My name is Ana and I am a marine scientist from Croatia. I've started housesitting in 2014 in the Pacific (Samoa) during my postgraduate studies in Australia and New Zealand and I absolutely loved the concept! It enabled me to have a pet (or more) while visiting places that would probably never be on my travel list otherwise. I met some really nice people, cared for many lovely and special pets and looked after all sorts of cool properties.

Regarding the house sit, I'm not really fussy as long as it's warm in the winter. Being a marine scientist, I must admit I do prefer the coast and islands a bit more, as I enjoy diving and swimming in the ocean, but love the mountains as well, and smaller cities and villages. When choosing between isolated and crowded, I always choose isolated. You can put be on a tiny island or at the end of the road, last house, and I'll be super happy. I'd probably choose to stay away from big crowded and hectic cities, but it would also depend on the city.

Why they want to house sit

I find house sitting rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable. As I am often on the move, I can't have a pet of my own, so I greatly value the opportunity to enjoy pet companionship for a while. I have always had positive experiences with house sitting and genuinely enjoy it. I also appreciate the change of scenery and the chance to explore new places.

In addition, I am planning to take time off for a sabbatical as I begin a new chapter in my professional career, expanding my knowledge in marine conservation through online courses. This means I will be spending a lot of time at home, and giving pets and the house my full attention.

I've been repeatedly told that the owners felt reassured and free to enjoy their time away, knowing their animals are happy, relaxed and well looked after, including young or special-needs pets. I communicate clearly and consistently, providing regular updates with photos and videos. I am tidy, organised and leave homes in the same or better condition. I care for a wide range of animals and plants, adapt easily and handle issues calmly with initiative.
