About this sitter

Hey there!

We're a couple in our 30's with extensive sitting experience, here to provide a steady, respectful, and cheerful presence. We love pets, are communicative, and keep things clean! Karissa does natural home cleaning and Jamie spends his time making flutes.

We've enjoyed looking after friends' and family's homes, gardens, and pets a number of times ever since we've been together (2009) and have been enjoying doing more of the same through various sites like this (since 2022).

--- Our Style ---

We love to be in conversation with with the pets we look after. Verbally this means chatting with them, narrating the world, and having them hear our voices. Non-verbally this means keeping an eye out for if they happen to be sensitive about anything, noticing their cues, nudges, and changes in behaviour, and responding appropriately if anything seems off.

Karissa likes to bake and read in her free time. She plays piano occasionally and does creative writing even more occasionally. Jamie likes to spend his time doing sound design/audio production and flute making. We both like to play games, watch shows, and enjoy the outdoors.

We do our best to prioritize relaxation and really value a peaceful environment. Spending time with pets is a huge plus.

Why they want to house sit

We feel fortunate to be building a life prioritizing our values and passions and we do petsitting pretty much full-time. When we're not, we do van-life, so we really value this type of exchange. Sadly we can't have pets of our own right now, but this is the next best thing. We tend to attach quickly!

Their experience

We are experienced! We've both grown up looking after our own pets, from puppies and kittens to end-of-life, and we've successfully taken care of 35+ unique pets in the past three years, including rescues. We work well with clear instructions and are experienced working with a variety of diets, including feeding raw meat.

As far as home care goes, Karissa has been successfully operating her own environmentally-friendly housekeeping business since 2011, entrusted with keys and access codes and ensuring clean and secure homes. Jamie has helped her out from time to time and is just as attentive, especially when it comes to plant and garden care. He has a green thumb!

What can they bring to the assignment

We bring ourselves :) You can count on us to be reliable, communicative, respectful, peaceful, present, and caring. Karissa works in the Metro Vancouver area a few days per week, and Jamie spends his days at "home."

We can provide up to 60 minutes of dog-walking per day, if necessary.
