About this sitter
We have been housesitting now for 14 years, mostly with Trusted Housesitters, and our reviews from there have been imported here to MindMyHouse, which we have recently joined.
We are a retired couple with three grown up children, one of whom has settled overseas. We now divide our time between visiting our son and his family and exploring other parts of the UK and the rest of the world through housesitting. Housesitting has so far taken us to a range of locations in France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, New Zealand, the United States and Canada as well as the UK.
Why they want to house sit
We much prefer to live in a home environment when travelling, and housesitting gives the perfect opportunity to discover different localities and the people who live there together with the pleasure of caring for other people's animals.
Their experience
We are experienced home owners and through housesitting have looked after all sorts of properties, from apartments in London and Paris to small farmsteads in New Zealand and an off-grid converted mill in Catalonia - and a range of rural properties and barn conversions in between!
We have happily taken care of dogs of all sizes, cats of all ages, horses, ponies, donkeys, alpacas, steers, sheep, goats, pigs, geese, turkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are both animal lovers and other livestock, so long as they came with good instructions, would be cared for in the best possible way!

Through housesitting we will enable you, the home owner, to go away happily, knowing that your home is secure and well looked after and that your pets, if you have them, are having a great holiday themselves in safe and caring hands!

This is the second time
This is the second time we have asked Ros and Ian to look after our little dog, Nellie. The first time they wildly surpassed our expectations and this time was more of the same. I’m sure I don’t need to go on too much about their wonderful qualities as house/pet sitters: their hundreds of five star reviews will do that job well enough. Suffice to say that we can think of no one we would rather leave our dog with than them. The level of care is amazing - we can go away absolutely 100% confident that Nellie will not only be looked after but will be loved. On top of that, you can be confident that your house and everything and it will be properly looked after too. We found it an added bonus (and a really, really nice one) to come home and find not only fresh bread and milk in the fridge, but also home-made tiffin left for us and freshly ironed sheets on the bed! Ros & Ian were wonderful house and animal sitters. We communicated well from the very start and we had the fortunate opportunity to show them around before they committed to the house sit. We arranged to meet to go through things before we left the following day. Ros was very thorough and look lots of notes. Unfortunately, the puppies managed to steal these notes off the kitchen table and had fun shredding them in the garden 🤣 Ros had remembered everything well and was very happy to ask questions whenever necessary. We kept in daily contact whilst we were away. They kept us updated on how things were going with the animals and always informed us of any minor mishaps, such as a broken duck feeder. On our return, all of the animals were very well and happy. The house was lovely and clean. We met to go through their experiences including more puppy mischief. Ros & Ian also seemed very happy with their time at our home. We would be delighted to welcome them back at any time in the future. Thank you.

I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of Ros & Ian look after our farm. We have such a huge variety of animals to look after including horses, pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, ducks, donkeys and dogs! It was a lot to ask anyone to look after but Ros & Ian were incredible! The animals and farm were better than when we left it! It was so reassuring to have them look after the farm and I just hope they will come back again! Thank you both so much

Ian and Ros were so sweet and our dog immediately loved them
Ian and Ros were so sweet and our dog immediately loved them. They stayed in our place for two weeks taking care of our dog. They sent us lots of updates so we knew she was having fun with them. They were super reliable, showed up on time, made an effort to make sure Basil was comfortable with them before the sit, and left our house clean. I would 1000% recommend them and would love to have them again!

We loved having Ros and Ian to mind Lola and Molly. I couldn't recommend them highly enough in every respect. We could see how happy the dogs were, and Lola who can sometimes be cautious with people she doesn't know, had completed bonded with both Ros and Ian by the time we came back. Thank you both so much for giving us such peace of mind while we were away and for looking after everything so well during the sit. We hope you will come back for another sit!

I'm very grateful to Ros and Ian
Ian and Ros came to look after our dogs, ponies and chickens while we went away and I knew from the start we were in the hands of consummate professionals. They conducted a very diligent handover on arrival and departure and I felt we were in very good hands. As it happens there was rather a drama while we were away as Claude our beloved dachshund woke up on our final morning with a slipped disc - requiring an emergency trip to the vet and then a same day referral for surgery. Ros and Ian were kind and supportive throughout and didn't hesitate to drive him 1 .5 hours away when that was recommended by the vet. I'm pleased to say Claude is now home and on the road to recovery and I'm very grateful to Ros and Ian for their calm handling of rather a dramatic situation. I hope we might tempt them back again.

Ros and Ian were the perfect house and pet sitters. Totally reliable and great communication throughout. We returned from our holidays to find all of our pets extremely happy and well looked after - our Shetland ponies had even been well groomed! Ros & Ian are amazing
Ros & Ian are amazing! If they express an interest in pet sitting for you - don't look anywhere else! They took the absolute best care of our dog Lucy - taking her for walks, taking her on little adventures, administering her medicine, etc., all while keeping us informed of how everything was going. They took wonderful care of our house and even left us some breakfast treats upon our arrival. They are THE BEST!

This experience really hit the spot
I feel like if I’m insufficiently disciplined, this review could spiral into a lengthy panygeric. So with difficulty, I’ll keep to the main points. As you can tell from their myriad 5* reviews, Ros and Ian are highly experienced and brilliantly accomplished house sitters. We saw every bit of that brilliance in the two weeks that they looked after our house and our little cavapoo, Nellie. First of all, the communication was unbelievably good (the perfect balance - informative yet unobtrusive) and enabled us truly to relax and enjoy our holiday secure in the knowledge that everything was well at home. It’s hard to overstate how important that was for us. When, in the middle of the second week, Nellie stopped eating, Ros and Ian’s kindness, compassion and animal husbandry skills really came to the fore. I’m not sure I would have ever dreamed of asking someone to make French toast and hand feed it to our dog, but Ros suggested it and, over the course of 2 days, coaxed Nellie back to full health and happiness (sending us videos of her eating to reassure us). If that’s not going above and beyond, I don’t know what is! We returned home to a happy dog and an utterly spotless house, which was amazing. But what really struck us was how nice it was that while we were away, the house had been lived in and so obviously cared for by such lovely people. The dark sourdough, fresh milk, and daffodils waiting for us were but a few examples of this care. Finding the right person can be a tricky affair, but this experience really hit the spot for us. It felt like our house and our dog were Ros and Ian’s priority, and that seems like more than anyone has a right to ask. If you are fortunate enough to have Ros and Ian offer to sit for you, you should not let the opportunity slip.

Ros and Ian are incredible house sitters
Ros and Ian are incredible house sitters and we cannot recommend them highly enough. They are a responsible, organised, friendly and warm couple who put us at ease as soon as we met them. Molly and Daisy were so well looked after and we returned from our holiday to a spotless home and two happy dogs. Ros sent regular updates which we really appreciated and all communications before, during and after the stay have been fantastic. We would not hesitate to have Ros and Ian stay again- if we are lucky enough for them to want to return!

Completely wonderful sitters
Ros and Ian stayed in our home for a month in June 2023. From the very moment we received their application, we knew we were leaving everything in very safe hands. We found them to be warm, caring and reliable sitters: they clearly adored our dogs, and the feeling was mutual. Our older dog, Holly, needs medication administering daily, and is a picky eater. Bella takes time to warm to new people, and then there were six hens, a large garden, and every type of weather that you can imagine to deal with! Ros and Ian were completely wonderful sitters: we have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody, and hope that they will return to us in the future.

Ros and Ian were absolutely fantastic housesitters
Ros and Ian were absolutely fantastic house sitters! They were peaceful and immediately took to our dog, Guinep and she to them. They have a boat load of experience which they told us all about and we felt very happy and relaxed leaving our dog with them. Communication with Ros was superb always and she was brilliant about keeping me updated with Guinep over the course of the housesit. I would recommend them both without hesitation. We so enjoyed our time getting to know them and Guinep was very sad to see them go! The house was also completely spotless when we returned, Ros had even washed and hung their sheets for me which was quite simply, amazing. They are exceptional.

This was the third time Ros and Ian have looked after our home and our Collie dog Keates. Once again we were delighted with the care they provided Keates and their meticulous care for our home. The communication was very prompt and helpful and we enjoyed meeting them again for a handover. Keates clearly recognised them giving them an extremely enthusiastic welcome. The house was immaculate when we returned and we were even provided with a pot of homemade soup and fresh bread. So pleased with this first experience
Ros and Ian were my first house-sitters and I was immediately put at ease when they arrived. We shared a meal together and they got to know my dog and the house. Once again it was a pleasure to meet with them and Keates certainly was extremely happy to see them again. They were brilliant at looking after Keates who loves lots of exercise and also enjoys company. The house was absolutely immaculate when we returned and they had even provided some essential groceries in the fridge which was so thoughtful. I couldn't have wished for better sitters
I couldn't have wished for better sitters! Both Ros and Ian are true animal lovers and soon fell in love with my very friendly sheep e4ven in the depths of winter in Wales. I came home to happy, healthy horses, sheep and cat. The house was clean and tidy and Ros had even cooked my a yummy meal. What more could I have asked for. I hope they can come back.
