About this sitter
My husband and I are retired and have used house/pet sitting opportunities for our travel stays for 5 years. We look for housesits in places that we either need to go to or that we just want to check out as somewhere interesting.
Why they want to house sit
House sitting has many advantages. Of course, the blessing of getting to stay for free is huge. But besides that, we enjoy getting to know the homeowners and their pets. We have met so many delightful people and their fur babies! Also, getting to live like a native of the area helps us really get a feel for what it's like to live in the area. Having a washer/dryer while away from home is a real plus, too.

Yes, we have completed 14 house sits and have excellent references, which speak for themselves. We are known for how clean we always leave our sit.
What can they bring to the assignment
Experience and realibility. We take it seriously when people put their trust in us to show up as scheduled. We care for their home and pet as if they were ours. My husband is a retired Electrical Engineer and fixing things is his strength. If an emergency should arrive with the house, he most likely could handle it himself or at least know enough to keep it from getting worse.

We would have them back any time
We had a wonderful experience with Alan and Glenda! They stayed at our house for two weeks with our two cats. From start to finish they were very organized. From our first call, I could tell that they had read our entire profile and about each cat, and came to the call with specific questions. They arrived a day before so we could show them all of the cat care items. They took great care of our home, and everything was neat and tidy when we returned. They even moved our car on street cleaning day. They sent us updates and photos every day, and the cats were happy when we returned. We would have them back any time, and would recommend them to other pet parents!

Glenda and Alan are, without a doubt, the best dog sitters we’ve ever had. Not only did they take incredible care of our dogs—loving them like their own and keeping us updated with sweet photos—but they went above and beyond in every possible way. What truly set them apart from any other sitter we’ve used was the care they put into our home. We came back to an immaculate space: they cleaned thoroughly, washed and remade the bed, and made everything feel so fresh and welcoming. It honestly felt like walking into a peaceful retreat after being away. Knowing our pets were so well cared for and coming home to such a clean, cozy space was a true gift. We couldn’t recommend them more highly!

Everything worked out just great
This was my first experience with sitters. It could not have gone better. I posted the sit two weeks before we were leaving and was concerned that nobody would answer. Within two hours I had six requests. I chose Alan and Glenda because they’re retired, they’re a couple, and they had excellent reviews. They had also been to the city where I live prior. They had friends living here. It could not have gone better. They did have a problem with a delayed flight on their way here, but we worked it out and we picked them up at the airport and when we got home, we went over everything and we communicated via What’s App daily as we were in different countries. We also got photographs daily. Alan actually fixed my hot water that we’ve been working on for almost 3 years. He was amazing. They took excellent care of our home and our 2 dogs. We got delayed a day coming home so they left just before we got home. I had my cleaning lady stay with the dogs overnight. Everything worked out just great and I would have them come and sit anytime in the future.

Alan and Glenda were an absolute delight
Alan and Glenda were an absolute delight. We met up the evening before the sit and left the morning after, so we had some nice time to visit, chat and learn about their travels. Chasqui (our dog) had clearly made a bond with them as she was begging them to throw the ball when we got back from our mini-vacation. She smiled at them and cuddled up to them...not something that would happen if she had been ignored or treated badly in any way. The house was scrubbed down and neat upon our return. Everything was in perfect order. We couldn't have asked for a better sit. Except for walks in the neighborhood to lunch spots, they stuck to home, enjoying the garden and Chasqui's company. In a nutshell, Alan and Glenda are calm, polite, kind, mature and conscientious sitters and we would not hesitate to have them back.

Alan and Glenda certainly looked after Kea and Romeo and kindly kept us up to date with messages during their stay. Romeo enjoyed their company as he spends more time indoors while Kea during the summer months is always eager to get outside. They were tidy and clean and the house was in order on our return. Alan and Glenda were amazing
Alan and Glenda were amazing! We asked them to arrive a couple of days prior to our departure so they could see the cats routines, and our household routines. I also showed them some local places to explore. They were very friendly, and knew how to maintain our swim spa, and Alan knew how to take care of my plants and use our pump on the rain barrels. We left for our trip with no worries whatsoever! Glenda and Alan took awesome care of our kitties, and sent us photos and text updates daily! They also enjoyed having our car to run around the island in, and even washed and vacuumed it! Alan picked me up from the airport when I returned and Glenda had a delicious dinner waiting after my long trip from the east coast to Hawaii. They insisted on washing their linen, remaking the bed, vacuumed and cleaned their bathroom on the day they left. I could not have been more happy with our first experience, and hope that we can have Glenda and Alan house sit for us again! They are truly amazing!

Would have them back in a heartbeat
Glenda and Alan were perfect house sitters for our dog, Zoe. We were gone 2 1/2 weeks and not once did we worry about her; we were totally able to enjoy our vacation! They were very responsive, communicated well, sent us pics of Zoe and themselves doing various activities, Alan was a master snowblower, watered the plants, and they replaced any items that they used in the kitchen. They left our house as clean or cleaner than I did for them. We felt fortunate to have found them and would have them back in a heartbeat!

Wonderful house-sitters
Alan and Glenda were wonderful house-sitters for our two pups while we were away for a long weekend. They sent detailed updates and pictures throughout my trip which I really appreciated knowing that my fur babies were being well cared for. They read our guide very thoroughly and asked great questions which I really appreciated as well. They were great communicators before and during the sit and when departure time came so my pups were never alone for very long. They came early to meet us and the fur babies and they were very flexible with our timing. Our house was left spotless - they vacuumed, cleaned, and did all the laundry from their sit. They went above and beyond and even gave us some helpful advice regarding some work we plan to do on the house. I highly recommend Alan and Glenda and would welcome them back any time!

Alan and Glenda deserve so much more than 5 stars. I told them I wanted to elevate them to Saint status! They watched our Sheltie Luke for two weeks while we were overseas, and did so many “above and beyond” actions around the house for us. The house was immaculate when we returned!! They kept in touch while we traveled and we felt totally at ease. If anyone wanting their service needs us for a reference, we would be more than happy to recommend them. Thanks again to a wonderful couple, and we would gladly invite them again if the situation presents itself.

It was a pleasure to welcome back Alan and Glenda to our house. Lulu and Canela absolutely love them and we feel very comfortable leaving our pets and house in their hands. They are very reliable, organized, pleasant and clean. Our house was as tidy as we left it but the most important thing is that our dogs were happy and well taken care of. Lulu even cried after they left and kept going to the guest room looking for them. Hope to see them back soon!

To whom it may concern : On August the 8th of 2021 my husband and I had the pleasure of hiring Alan and Glenda Miner to care for our estate for 3 months. They live in a cottage on the property which consists of multiple old buildings, gardens and land in addition to assorted vehicles and farm machinery. Alan and Glenda were in charge of : gardening, feeding our dog, mowing and doing some projects on the property with us and while we are away. Even if both of them were not very familiar with tractors, it didn’t take much time before they caught up. They are both now at ease with any machinery. Their work ethic and standard of care were impeccable and their help invaluable. The permanent smile and easy-going nature they share were a real plus. Our whole family really enjoy having them around and felt blessed while away. Even Havane, our affectionate and happy dog, adopted them right away. We cannot recommend them highly enough. It was our distinct pleasure to get to know them and to have them here at our home and we wish to welcome them again soon.

We are very pleased with Alan and Glenda! Communication was perfect, they gave us a bunch of updates and pics. And they left house even cleaner than it was! In my opinion they went above and beyond of what we asked. Good and solid people. And Daisy loved them as well. Highly recomend them if you need house/pet sitting.

Went above and beyond
Alan and Glenda went above and beyond while house/dog sitting for us. They arrived to our house at the time we were expecting them. During our time away a problem with the AC aroused and they communicated promptly and were present to handle it when the technician came to fix it. Alan also detected a problem with one of the smoke detectors and he bought a new one and installed it himself. Our dogs loved them! They were fed, walked, played and cuddled. Alan even mowed the lawn for us which he did not have to do but of course we appreciated it. The house was sparkling clean when we arrived home from our vacation. Definitely it was a delight to have them sitting for us and we greatly appreciate them. Hopefully in the future they can sit for us again. We absolutely recommend them without any hesitation!
