About this sitter

We're Mandy (from NZ) and Lee (from the UK), aka the Frugal Travellers on YouTube, and we have been travelling the world on a budget since leaving Australia in 2017.

We were housesitting in Perth for 2 years before we left as we missed having pets.

We were fortunate to be in Portugal for 2 years during lockdown & house-sat there for 1½ years, making lifelong friends with the wonderful homeowners we met there and their incredible pets.

Why they want to house sit

We have lived in many different countries since we first met in Nepal in 1996. As we travel full-time, we can't have pets of our own.

We both love animals so we find that housesitting is a brilliant way to have special time with pets and it's also a great way to meet the locals and explore new places.

We've loved having many repeat housesits in Australia and Portugal, and we're looking forward to meeting more amazing pets and their owners through this great site.

Their experience

We have had over 10 years experience with house- and pet-sitting all around the world.

Mandy was raised on a farm in New Zealand & has loved animals from a young age. I grew up with cats, dogs, pigs, sheep and cows, and have always had animals in my life.

Lee grew up with cats, and has worked as a relief milker in New Zealand and Iceland.

We've had experience looking after:
• small, medium & large dogs
• elderly cats & dogs requiring medication & extra care
• a paraplegic incontinent German Shepherd who wore nappies
• reactive rescue dogs who required extra attention during their walks and who just want to be loved
• pet rats
• tropical fish in a house with 150 house plants
• 4 small long haired dogs who needed careful grooming, including the most gorgeous Shi Tzu... the daily topknot sessions were so much fun
• a small farm in Central Portugal with 2 dogs, 3 cats, 25 hens & a rooster

We've included many of these beautiful pets in YouTube videos, always with the prior written consent of the owners.

There have been so many other memorable house-sits, including a regular twice-yearly 2-month sit for Tilly the cat, which lasted for 3 years, and yes, many tears were shed when we waved goodbye to her.

What can they bring to the assignment

We have years of experience housesitting, with dogs of all ages and sizes, and cats of all degrees of aloofness and mischievousness.

We're a mature active non-drinking non-smoking couple in our mid -50s who are blessed to be able to travel the world looking after gorgeous pets and houses.

We take great care in looking after your property, and treat everyone's home with respect and all animals with love and the utmost care.
