67 yo recently retired, active female - quiet but enthusiastic house/pet sitter :) I want to see some of the world and share in your locale, culture, and language :)

About this sitter

Young-at-heart-senior female, recently retired (but watching my pennies); I want to see some of the world while I still can. I'm from the upper Midwest in the U.S. I lived a normal, mainstream existence but had a few adventures along the way (employee at art gallery/gift shop in Denali, Alaska; care giver at U.S. army hospital in Killeen, Texas; personal holiday in Netherlands; and participant in a medical mission to El Salvador). I have skills and knowledge from a plethora of jobs to include animal welfare, healthcare, garden center, warehouse, office, retail, tourism, hospitality, and shipping....just to name a few. Calm, self sufficient, independent, resourceful, no-nonsense person (non smoker, social drinker, drug-free). I like to stay active and try to keep fit and healthy (organic plant-based diet) and I enjoy walking/biking and being outdoors. I like new experiences and seeing new places, and am a lifelong learner. I enjoy libraries, nature, and quiet places, but also savor the comfort of home (and love curling up with a furry friend :). I'm flexible and adaptable with length of sits but prefer longer ones, to be able to see the same faces every day, and have time to get to know the area :)

Why they want to house sit

To me, house/pet sitting is a wonderful exchange of kindness, trust, caring, and goodwill and I would honor that with all that I am, in my respect and loving care for what is yours - especially your furry companions - and treat them like they were my own. I like to have a purpose to my day and to be of use wherever I am, so a daily routine and tasks are welcome. I'm a slow traveler and would rather experience local life (vs tours, crowds, etc) and am really a homebody at heart :) I'd love to sit for you and give you the peace of mind your home and best friends are well looked after :)

Their experience

My last sitting experiences were twenty years ago, and included cats, dogs, (some horses and chickens) but I've long since moved on so am unable to get references from them (and I think some owners may have passed away). They were all good experiences and I really enjoyed them. Since then, life has kept me busy with work and caring for aging/dying parents :( As a younger woman, I worked on a dairy farm as a hired hand, as a veterinary assistant in a clinic, attendant at a humane society, and I did some volunteering at a farm animal sanctuary. I truly love animals - their trust and unconditional love is a gift! I love connecting to their intelligence, playing with them, and especially watching their antics :) For thirteen years, I shared my life with three beautiful 'boys' (see photo) who I miss every day; and I'm comfortable giving medications as all of my cats had medical issues at the end. I've been an apartment dweller all my life (in various locales) and am adaptable to different situations; I strive to be organized, clean, quiet, and respectful of my neighbors. Although I've yet to secure my first MMH sit, could it be with you?

What can they bring to the assignment

I bring a mature-but-light-hearted, playful, and compassionate demeanor; a responsibility and committment to the task, and respect and kindness for all. I'm trustworthy, reliable, and dependable; quiet, clean, and organized (if not a bit methodical at times :). I'm a good housekeeper and like things neat and tidy.
