67 yo active retired female - quiet but enthusiastic house/pet sitter :) I want to see some of the world and share in your locale, culture, and language :)

About this sitter

Young-at-heart, female (Nancy 67), recently retired and now wanting to see and experience some of the world while I still can! I've worked my whole life in service-oriented jobs (retail, office, healthcare, warehouse, hospitality, animal welfare, tourism, etc) and did my best at each one. Now, in the leisure of retirement I 'work' to stay fit and healthy :) I don't have any major hobbies but I love animals, nature, weather, healthy foods, birds, and being outdoors. I'm congenial and make friends easily but primarily enjoy solitude and serenity. I live a very simple lifestyle, eat a minimal plant-based diet, recycle/reuse, limit my possessions and use of technology, and in general try to leave a small footprint. I enjoy walk/hike/bicycle on warm, sunny days and usually seek out quiet places to do each. I'm a straight forward, no-nonsense person (non smoker, only social drinker, drug-free, independent, don't like noise/crowds) and live by 'old school' values - simplicity/frugality, honesty, compassion for all beings, hard work, and caring for others. I am a solo/single, slow traveler so I do not have a car, but am comfortable walking or using public transportation. What I'm looking for in a house sit....quite honestly, it would be my incredible fortune to sit for you/your pets for ANY length of time! I want to experience various locales/countries to give and receive in the kindness of humanity :)

Why they want to house sit

It seems to me, the opportunity to serve as a house/pet sitter is one of the most wonderful exchanges of trust, caring, and goodwill between people. I of course would honor that with all that I am, in my respect and loving care for everything that is yours - especially your loving pets - and treat them like they were my own. I like to have a purpose and to be of use no matter where I am and, when I travel, I like to stay in one place so I can get to know the area/culture. I welcome new experiences but am truly a homebody at heart, so house/pet sitting for me is the best! I love simple pleasures - sitting at home reading with a cup of Chai, listening to birdsong and watching the world go by, sharing animal love and their charming antics, a long walk on a sunny day, cooking simple meals at home, daily routines, etc.

Their experience

With regards to pets, I've done house/pet sitting for friends twenty years ago (cats, dogs, horses, chickens, cows), I also worked on a dairy farm, as a veterinary assistant, and as a shelter attendant at a humane society, all when I was a much younger woman. I shared my life with three beautiful cats who I loved very much (see photo; sadly, they passed on many years ago) and I've done a bit of fostering (dogs) along the way. I've been an apartment dweller all my life but have lived in various locales/climates, making me adaptable to most any situation. I strive to be organized, clean, quiet, and respectful of my neighbors. Although I've yet to share in my first MMH assignment, I anxiously await getting my feet wet in meeting you and your pets :)

What can they bring to the assignment

I bring maturity, honesty, a responsible attitude, respect, and a loving, caring person for your house and pet. I am trustworthy, reliable, and dependable; quiet, clean, and organized (if not a bit methodical :). I enjoy the quiet/calm of home and sitting/walking with pets, but also am excited about learning new things and meeting new people. I suppose I'm an environmentalist as I bring a deep affection for animals, nature, and the earth, and a commitment to caring for all as they deserve, wherever I am.
