About this sitter

Thank you for visiting our profile.
We are Sandra and Sören.

We are a professional German couple in our mid 30s, caring for homes and pets around the world for over 10 years.

As dedicated house sitters, we treat every home with the utmost care and respect, ensuring homeowners enjoy complete peace of mind while travelling.

Sandra works as a writer and Sören as a programmer, both of us fully remotely.

Our two female dogs, Tia and Sandy, always accompany us on house sits.
They are both 10 years old, medium sized, neutered, fully vaccinated, regularly dewormed, and reliably house and field trained. They are friendly with other animals, though reserved around unfamiliar people.

Both, we and our dogs, are covered by international liability insurance. We also hold clean police clearance certificates. All documentation can be provided upon request.

Why they want to house sit

House sitting allows us to connect our much needed daily routine with our love of exploring new places and of course, of being with animals, who enrich our lives every day.

Their experience

Of course you would like to know, if your animal family make a match with us. We are happy to answer the most common questions for you:

Are you experienced with animals?
************************************
We both grew up surrounded by cats, dogs, and small animals. Through house sitting experiences around the world, we have gained extensive knowledge caring for a wide variety of furry companions. Not to mention our own dogs, Tia and Sandy, whose happiness and well mannered behavior speak for themselves as our best reference.

We are also passionate about horses. Sandra started riding at seven and has been a true horse girl ever since. She has extensive knowledge of species-appropriate horse care, as well as training and ground work. She is an experienced trail rider who finds the greatest joy in exploring nature with a horse.

We are very happy to care for horses in all aspects, including feeding, mucking out, rugging, coordinating the farrier, administering medication, and exercising them, according to the owner’s preferences.

Are you experienced house sitters?
************************************
We began house sitting in 2015 and have cared for homes in numerous countries across multiple continents.

Our experience spans cats, dogs, birds, rabbits and guinea pigs, fish, horses, poultry, sheep, goats, pigs, as well as house plants, vegetable gardens, greenhouses, pools and balconies.

We always strive to meet the high expectations of homeowners who trust us with their properties. We treat both animals and belongings with the same care and respect as if they were our own.

We make every effort to keep each home immaculate and ensure it is thoroughly cleaned before our departure, so you’ll find your property just as you left it, or even better.

Are you willing to take our pets to the vet and give medication?
****************************************************************
We are fully available day and night to take pets to the vet immediately in case of any emergency and to administer their medication. We have our own car, so we are fully mobile at all times. From tablets and ear drops to changing bandages or giving injections (e.g. for diabetes), we are experienced and have handled a wide range of situations.

What about your own dogs, Tia and Sandy?
********************************************
Tia and Sandy are experienced travellers, familiar with house sitting routines, and respectful toward all animals.

Tia and Sandy are very well behaved. They know how to greet other dogs respectfully and never chase cats, small animals, or farm animals, but simply ignore them.

As former rescue dogs, they show caution around unfamiliar people and prefer not to be touched by strangers, communicating this by keeping their distance, which we always respect.

We only accept house sits where your pets feel calm and comfortable with Tia and Sandy around. The wellbeing of all animals is our top priority, so if there’s any doubt, it’s best to discuss it with us beforehand.

What does your daily routine look like?
****************************************
Here’s a summary of our typical routine, which we are happy to adapt to your pets’ needs:

• We go to bed around 11?pm and get up around 7?am.

• Our dogs are walked three times a day:

10–20 minutes in the morning
2–3 hours in the afternoon
10–20 minutes before bed

• After the morning walk, we play with the dogs for a bit, so they’re content and sleep through until the afternoon. In between walks, they enjoy sunbathing time in the garden.

• We have breakfast after the morning walk and dinner after the afternoon hike.

• After breakfast, we spend several hours working on our laptops. As full time remote workers, the animals are rarely left alone, never for more than four hours, and only occasionally once or twice a week, if at all.

• In our free time, we enjoy long hikes, horseback riding, swimming, exploring local markets, watching movies, or relaxing in the sun with a good book. We are both passionate about music, and Sandra is also a dedicated photographer who shares her photos and dog care insights on her blogs.

Which languages do you speak?
**********************************
We are fluent in German and English, and some very basic French.

Do you have a driver's license or your own vehicle?
*******************************************
We both hold German driver’s licenses and carry an international driver’s license in English for travel outside of Europe. We have a clean driving record, ensuring full insurance coverage. Within Europe, we travel in our own car.

Do you charge for house sitting?
**********************************
We view house sitting as a mutually beneficial arrangement and do not charge for our services.

However, if a house or farm sit requires the commitment of a full time job, preventing us from carrying out our regular work, we would need to agree on fair compensation to ensure we can cover our expenses.

Can we meet up or have a call with you before our final decision?
*****************************************
If we're nearby, we’d be happy to meet in person. Otherwise, we look forward to a call with you.

How long before our departure will you arrive?
****************************************
Ideally, we arrive a few hours before your departure to go through everything. If you're already away on your trip, it's also possible to do the handover with your neighbor or the previous house sitter.

How often will you send us updates?
**************************************
As photographers and filmmakers at heart, we genuinely enjoy capturing photos and videos of your beloved animals.

During the first weeks of a sit, we usually provide daily updates, to keep you fully informed and at ease.

As time goes on, communication naturally adapts. During long term sits, we usually provide updates, photos, and videos every 2–3 days, while always remaining fully reachable for you and responding promptly whenever you contact us.

****************************************
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send us a message.
