Kitties and puppers and bears, oh my!

About this sitter

While I am new to the MMH platform, I have had experiences on an alternate house sitting site with many handfuls of reviews that I'm happy to share.

In general, I seek out-of-the-way tranquil areas, places by the coast, proximity to good food / fresh ingredients / garden herbs and produce, spots with a view, or clean air.

I like to read, stretch, dance, bask in the sun, listen to crashy ocean waves, scour reddit for cat pictures and videos, hike, eat (on nom nom!), and snuggs furry animals.

I was a part-time nomad pre-pandemic and dedicated some of my year to epic road trips.

I also work remotely.

My next step is to merge the two into life as a "digital nomad" where I can work anywhere and also be anywhere. Hello transition!

My work sometimes involves considerable virtual meetings, so consistent internet is a must. If you've been a working traveler, I welcome your tips and tricks for how you've made it work.

I'm a non-smoker, non-vaper. Clean air is the best!

Why they want to house sit

Animals, yay! New locations, yay! The satisfaction of caretaking, loving, and being loved, yay! The feeling of belonging when a previously wary kitty climbs into your lap and renders you "cat hostage" (if you know, you know!). Allow me to love your pet and be your surrogate until you're together again.

Additionally, I get excited for seeing people's living spaces. My aspirations include building my dream estate (...someday...). I'm always delighted to find new inspiration to add to my list of dream home features.

Their experience

I've cared for houses, pastures, gardens, cats, big dogs, little dogs, sheep & lambs, turtles, birds, and fish.

I've stewarded brown bears (as a National Park Ranger in Alaska) and bison (on a private ranch in Montana).

What can they bring to the assignment

Senior kitties have a special place in my heart. My own sweet kitty of 21 years experienced CKD and dental issues in her elder years. Our schedule had daily medications plus subcutaneous fluids three times per week.

Through this, I learned the 'in's and 'out's of caring for a beloved animal with chronic conditions. I know very well the labor of love that powers attentive care, and I understand the responsibility of medication schedules.

I've sat for many well-socialized, well-behaved dogs (primarily pre-pandemic, and those experiences guide my care and expectations for dog sits today). I have a patient personality, and curious pups who like to sniff and explore the neighborhood get their fill. I enjoy exploring neighborhoods, too, so that's always a good match. I like hiking up a good incline and brisk walks, as well.
