We're Bjarne (28, Belgian) and Nina (28, Belgian), a couple who will always choose wonder over comfort. Travel isn't just something we do – it's how we learn, grow, and connect with the world. We're endlessly curious about new cultures, hidden corners of the map, and the stories that unfold when you slow down and truly live in a place rather than just pass through.

Why they want to house sit

House sitting feels like a natural extension of our philosophy. Instead of anonymous hotels, we crave the warmth of a real home. Instead of tourist attractions, we want to discover the local bakery, the quiet park where neighbours walk their dogs, the rhythm of everyday life. And most importantly – we miss the companionship of animals. There's something grounding about coming home to a wagging tail or a purring cat on your lap.

Their experience

Our love for animals and travel came together in a meaningful way when we volunteered at the LAO Conservation Trust for Wildlife in Laos. This wasn't a holiday – it was hands-on, heart-first work. We built shelters for injured and rescued animals, was responsible for daily feeding routines, and learned firsthand what it means to care for creatures who depend entirely on you. Waking up at dawn to prepare meals for sun bears and gibbons, observing their behaviours, understanding their needs – it was transformative and deepened our respect for all animals, big and small.

As Ragdoll owners, we understand the quirks of cats intimately – their need for routine, their love of cozy spots, and yes, their talent for dramatic meowing when dinner is five minutes late. But our experience extends beyond cats: we've cared for dogs, observed wildlife rehabilitation, and approach every animal with patience and genuine affection.

On the professional side, we both work as freelancers – giving us complete flexibility and meaning we're home most of the day. Bjarne ran his own coaching academy for 3+ years, working with over 300 international clients, which demanded reliability, clear communication, and the ability to build trust. He's also worked in sales at Microsoft and management at a Belgian retail chain, so handling responsibilities and problem-solving under pressure comes naturally. Nina takes on various creative freelance projects, combining her artistic talents with her deep interest in psychology and human connection.

What can they bring to the assignment

Around-the-clock presence – We both work remotely as freelancers, so someone is always home. Your pets will have constant companionship and your home will never be left unattended.

A shared fascination with behaviour – We're both deeply interested in psychology and understanding what makes humans and animals tick. We love observing, learning, and connecting – whether it's reading a book on behavioural science or simply noticing how your cat prefers the sunny spot by the window at exactly 3pm. This curiosity makes us attentive, thoughtful caretakers.

Animals just know – There's something about Bjarne that animals sense immediately. Whenever he walks into a room, every pet gravitates towards him – dogs, cats, you name it. It's like they recognise a kindred spirit. That says more than words ever could.

A creative, gentle presence – Nina is a talented artist who loves drawing, painting, and sketching. Beyond her creativity, she's a highly sensitive, soft-natured person – the kind of soul animals (and people) feel instantly safe around. Your pets will be in calm, nurturing hands.

Wildlife conservation experience – Bjarne's hands-on work at an animal sanctuary in Laos taught us responsibility, routine, and deep respect for all creatures – from exotic wildlife to the cat curled up on your couch.
