About this sitter
Hello! We're Dawna and Daniel, we love to travel and aim to do so about 6 months out of the year! Dawna works remotely as a Designer, and Daniel runs a handyman business in our hometown when we're not traveling. We're grateful for the opportunity to live a life that allows us to explore the world (and cuddle some pets along the way!). ? We love all animals in general, and have the most experience with cats and dogs, a little bit with fish. Dawna has also fostered for the local humane society, mostly kittens and older cats which needed medical care and healing before they could be put up for adoption. We're happy to take care of the plant babies too!
Why they want to house sit
Aside from looking for more affordable ways to travel, we miss having pets! Housesitting allows us the best of both worlds: travel + pets. It's rewarding and re-grounding to be able to settle in a bit and spend time getting to know all the quirks and personalities of some new animal friends. Looking forward meeting even more!
Their experience
Dawna began house/pet sitting in 2021 as a way to travel and visit family, and Daniel joined in 2023. In that time we've cared for over 30 cats and dogs across six countries, getting to know them and their personalities like they are part of our family. We have experience administering medications, special feeding schedules, and anything else your pet might need!
What can they bring to the assignment
Experience with medications, senior cats and dogs, kittens, and puppies. We also have ample experience in home care and maintenance, and can help maintain gardens, houseplants, and pools too!

Fantastic
Dawna and Daniel were fantastic and I would definitely recommend them! They were so sweet with my cats and administered new medicine and were super patient with my cat who takes time to warm up. They kept in touch and were friendly and reliable. I came home from a very long travel day to happy pets and a clean house, couldn’t ask for more!

Fabulous
Dawna and Daniel were FABULOUS!!! We went out of the country and kept in contact either each other as we were able. We had difficulty with our air travel and they were willing to stay an additional night. It ended up that we didn’t need to do that, however. Everything at home was “perfect” and clean. My dog was happy to see us, but VERY well taken care of! I would most definitely have them back again, as well as recommend them! Thank you Dawna and Daniel for helping us with our sit! See you soon when we take you to dinner!

Great job
Dawna and Daniel cared for our home and two kitties for three weeks and did a great job. They even stopped back by on their final day to offer more wet food and snuggles in the evening, when our return flight was delayed until the next morning. We specifically wanted someone who would be working at home, or present a good deal of the time, to let our kids outside some, and have the company they're used to, since we both work from home. With the long stay, Daniel was also willing to mow our small lawn a couple of times, which was a great help to us, so we didn't have to make additional arrangements with another person. There were a couple of small snafu's: -At one point they realized they were overfeeding wet food. I said our kitties might prefer that their parents didn't come home. ;) - They tossed our kitty's favorite cardboard box that was in the kitchen. Which probably looked like recycling waiting to go out. They did ask how often we'd like to receive updates, and sent them, plus pictures, especially in the early days, when we were most anxious about leaving them. Our kitties were happy and in perfect health when we returned.

Trustworthy, reliable and very caring
We had a good connection during our video call and I was happy that Dawna accepted to look after my cat. She even agreed to stay a couple of days extra so I could spend more time with my ill mother. Ferdinand bonded with Dawna immediately and very much enjoyed not having to share her affection and attention with my dog Sofia, who came with me on the trip. Our communication was perfect and I very much appreciated Dawnas flexibility and empathy with my difficult family situation. All in all, I can recommend Dawna to everyone as she is a trustworthy, reliable and very caring personality. I would love to have her back!

Exemplary
Dawna and Daniel are exemplary pet and house sitters! Everything they do, they do with love and care. This is the third time they've taken care of my cat Lily and my house and yard, and I wish they could be lifetime sitters! Dawna was so good about playing with Lily and a certain wand toy that she loves - and finding creative ways to use up her 2-year-old energy. She and Daniel clearly enjoyed being with her, and it was mutual. Lily seldom sleeps on the guest room bed where they stayed, but she's napped there the past two days! I know she misses them. My house was in superb shape when I returned. Dawna had trimmed the dry leaves from an indoor plant, and Daniel had checked on the health of an outdoor one I was concerned about. Both have a landscape designer background, and that's a gift. All in all, I have only gratitude that I've met these two special people and had the privilege of their being our house and Lily sitters during my three recent trips this summer. They are the best of the best!

Highly recommend
Because my first experience using Dawna and Daniel to care for my cat Lily was so positive in every way, I turned to them for a long weekend trip out of state. They are both conscientious about their care of Lily and also my home. They walked her late in the day, due to the June desert heat. They were also generous about staying over the night before I left, since I had to leave for a pre-dawn flight and did not want Lily to be alone even for a few hours. Similarly, they were kind about my very late arrival home (near midnight), even though they each had to work early the next day. Both Lily and my home were in excellent condition. Dawna and Daniel are exceptional in their generosity of spirit as well as being highly experienced in animal care. I highly recommend them in every way!

Perfect pet sitters
Dawna and Daniel were the perfect pet sitters for my cat Lily! I'd never left her before, so they went out of their way to meet her ahead of time and get to know her and our home. They reviewed all instructions ahead of time and asked questions about a couple of things that were not clear. During my week away, Dawna sent photos and updates on Lily every day. Lily's an indoor cat who goes outside in the back yard on a leash several times a day. I had concerns that she might not let them put on her leash, but that was no problem at all. My house was in perfect condition when I returned! Most of all, Lily had been very well cared for. I can tell that she misses her pet sitters because she's been sleeping and napping on their bed in the guest room! Based on my experience, I highly recommend Dawna and Daniel as pet sitters. If I could give 6 stars, I would!
