Growing up I had pets including both dogs and cats, a horse for a short period of time and a pet duck. As an adult we had two sweet kitties for approximately 12 years and a beta fish.
We built our own cabin in Colorado and maintained it as an Airbnb for 10 years, doing all upkeep, landscaping, maintenance ourselves, as well as the management.
In retirement, we want to slow travel, take in the environment we are exploring and would love to have the opportunity to care for pets while traveling the world.

Why they want to house sit

My husband and I will be retiring in the Spring 2026. We have both worked in the public service sector during our careers, I as an attorney working in Child Protection for the City of Denver and my husband as a state Public Health Administrator for the State of Oregon.
We’ve been married 33 years and have traveled extensively. During our earlier married years, we had two sweet cats, but due to our constant travels and living in separate cities for the past 10 years, we have not had pets of our own in quite some time. However, I grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, pigs, a horse and a pet duck.
My husband and I are originally from the south, namely KY and TN. We moved to Colorado in 1998. During that time, we built a cabin south of Breckenridge, completing ALL of the finish work on our own. We maintained it as a second home and I managed it as a vacation rental for 10 years until we sold it in 2019. Thus, we have extensive experience and skill keeping up a home, one, in extreme conditions, as the cabin was at 11,100 feet elevation, two managing guest rentals and three, construction/maintenance experience
Our hobbies including running (me), lots of hiking, biking, and skiing as much as possible. My husband loves to paint and we’ve recently become pickleball addicts.

In retirement our desire is to “slow” travel. We want to take in the areas we visit to experience it beyond tourism. While we have no pets of our own, I’ve longed to have pets again and think it would be the best of both worlds to be able to travel and experience a new area/culture while also caring for a pet since it’s not feasible for us to have pets with our current lifestyle. Also, with our experience of keeping up a second home, we would be an asset to ensure one’s home is maintained well while an owner is away.

I have watched my mother's dogs and cats over the years and we have our first trustedhousesitter assignment at the end March.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are a neat meticulous couple, with goals to love on your pets in your absence as well as leave the home as good or better than how it was when you left. We have extensive experience building and repairing our home at high Colorado altitude for over 15 years.
