About this sitter

I’m a lively and independent person, 64 years old, with plenty of life experience. I am a non-smoker, and being reliable and practical is important to me. I live half of the year in a city in our own house, and the other half in the countryside in a simple cottage.

My interests include history and culture, so city destinations appeal to me. I’m also a nature lover and a keen photographer, so I enjoy spending time in the countryside as well. I like a simple life and enjoy reading, writing, doing handicrafts, walking or cycling, and watching movies.

Why they want to house sit

I usually travel alone, and caring for pets is at the heart of my journeys. It gives each trip more meaning and helps me feel connected to everyday life in the country — to its people, rhythms, and ordinary days

Their experience

I have lived with cats nearly all my life and love many different types of cats.I am also used to caring for elderly cats and also häve experience with how to give cats their medication. For the last ten years, I have only taken adult cats who needed a home for the rest of their lives. Each cat needed time to trust me and to feel safe. The only way is to give them a lot of space to watch me and get to know me. Currently I have one indoor Persian cat, which has taught me patience in caring for his fur. My partner looks after him and always says how he has plenty of time to spoil our cat.

With regard to dogs sometimes I help my friends walk and care for their dogs. From time to time, I have also taken my friends' dogs to my home for care during the holiday: Greyhounds, Whippets,Tschechischer Terrier, Bedlington Terrier,Dachshund, two middle size cross-breeds, Welsh Corgi and Bordercollie. When I was very young I worked as an au pair in England and took care of young Labrador for a year. I also had a whippet on my thirtie's. So I also interested in positions with a kind calm or energetic dog. I prefer long walks, but only if your dog likes it.

As a child, I had a hamster, aquarium fish, and a white rat. I could look after this type of pet too.

What can they bring to the assignment

My first pet sitting experience through TrustedHousesitters was in Austria last November. There were two ten-year-old cats, Lana and Rorschach, who had a strict diet. We got along very well — cats are excellent with languages, and they seemed to understand Finnish perfectly! I was also invited back to the same home for a month in February, which made me very happy.

Living in someone else’s home is a great responsibility. I treat your home, garden, and belongings with care and respect — and most importantly, I take loving care of your pet.

I understand how difficult it can be to leave a beloved pet when travelling. I am happy to send regular updates, photos, and messages so you can feel reassured and see how we are doing.
