I am a friendly, caring solo traveller looking to catsit in order to spend a little more time in some of my favourite places, or to experience those places that will become a favourite in the future!

Why they want to house sit

I started housesitting - always looking after cats - in 2023, after the pandemic, both because the work I do became possible to do remotely, and because after being confined to 5 square miles for extended periods of time, I wanted to get out there and see the world!

I prefer longer sits (although I may apply for shorter sits depending on where I am and if it fits in with my other plans) so I can get to know the rhythm of a place, and it's a great privilege to be able to do that. I'm not a packed-itinerary sightseer, I prefer a more relaxed pace, and so I've found that housesitting is a great way to experience more chilled-out local neighbourhoods while I'm away.

I have completed 40 sits on another platform, many of them repeat visits. I have over 30 5* reviews I can provide as references (the last 5 are available as a PDF link on my profile), with many of them mentioning how happy/relaxed their cat seemed on the host's return, how well looked after their property was, and that I'm prepared to cope with any problems that crop up with common sense and grace.

I've looked after cats from 4 week-old kittens (and their mums!) to 19.5 year-old deaf elderly gentlemen! I've cared for blind cats, cats who require medication (in various forms), cats with toileting difficulties, long-haired cats requiring daily brushing, shy and skittish cats (and have always won their trust, in whichever way they showed that trust) and helped wean kittens.

I notice the the little things in the daily behaviour of the cats I'm sitting and flag them (without panic) to the owner, and this has included digestive issues, extra care for cats adjusting after a transatlantic move, behaviour changes and even found a solution to help a cat more readily take his medication (it takes a village!).

What can they bring to the assignment

Hopefully, I bring peace of mind while you're away knowing that your furry friend is in good, loving, playful hands. I'm calm and laid-back (sometimes things go wrong - boilers break, roofs leak...that's life!) and pro-active in helping to find a solution if it's required. I'm happy to communicate as much (or little!) as you like and I'm reliable with the regularity of that communication. I'm organised, punctual and practical, and I will take excellent care of your home!
