About this sitter

I'm Rita, a 26 year old Portuguese remote worker and I have decided to make the most of location independence by actually going places! I've spent most of my life in the same city, and I'm very ready to change that. I'm looking for sits that let me genuinely experience a place, whether that's for a week or a few months. Ideally somewhere I can explore on foot, do some sport, and get a real feel for what everyday life looks like there.

Why they want to house sit

I've travelled a fair bit, but there's a big difference between being a tourist and actually living somewhere and housesitting is, for me, the perfect way to do both at once. I get to care for someone's home and pets, which I genuinely enjoy, while also getting to experience a place the way a local would, rather than a visitor passing through.
I'm at a stage in my life where I'm figuring out what kind of life I want: what pace suits me, what kind of place feels like home, where I eventually want to put down roots... Staying in hotels and hostels is great, but I never really get under the skin of a place that way. Being trusted with someone's home, their neighbourhood, their pets, their routines, is a completely different experience, and one I find really meaningful.
I'm open to shorter sits that let me explore new places, and longer ones that will allow me to truly settle in and get a real feel for what everyday life looks like somewhere.

Their experience

I don't have formal housesitting experience yet, but I've always been the person friends and family trust with their homes and pets (and children as well!). I have two dogs and a cat, so animal care is part of my daily routine (feeding schedules, vet visits, playing time, etc.). I've also done couchsurfing over the years, which has taught me how to be a respectful and considerate guest in someone else's space.

What can they bring to the assignment

A tidy home, happy pets, good neighbourly relations, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing someone is genuinely taking care of what's yours, as if it was mine! Because I work remotely, I'm home during the day, which means your pets are never alone for long and the house is never left empty.
I'm reliable, communicative, and will treat your home with the same care I'd want someone to treat mine. In my spare time I paint, read and explore the neighbourhood, so you won't find me throwing parties, just quietly making myself at home!
