Experienced sitter seeks new pet friends during nomadic summer

About this sitter

I'm a single, adult woman with three years of professional pet and house sitting experience in New Orleans, Connecticut and Oregon. My own senior dogs died a few years ago. Caring for others' pets began as a way to cope with my grief and it has continued to be the perfect way to have animal companionship without the 15 year commitment! I've paused in-home boarding while I relocate and am focusing on house sitting for the next few months. I'm hoping to find longer term sits broadly situated around the southeast US with dummy-proof plant tending responsibilities.

Why they want to house sit

After moving home to CT in 2025 to take care of my mother during her final months, I'm now ready to start the next chapter. Connecticut winters are just too inhospitable, so I'd love to house sit as a way to try out life in different places while researching local job and housing markets in search of the best fit. And I'd like to hang out with your pet(s) while I do!

I have used Rover since 2023 to book most of pet care and house sitting gigs. I have 60+ publically viewable five-star reviews on the Rover site/app. I've predominantly worked with dogs and cats with the occasional turtle, frog and chicken to liven things up.

What can they bring to the assignment

I'm not a skilled animal trainer or groomer, but I'm an earnest listener who will treat your pet like my own. If anything, the only one being trained during a house sit is me as every pet as their own routine and none of them is shy about telling me when I'm doing it wrong. When we part, I will be bereft and they will barely give me a backwards glance and that's okay as long as I can keep them happy in your absence. I happen to have the same hobbies as most pets and we'll bond over our love of naps, walks, and snacks. (Be explicit with me about their food rules, including any/all established cheese policy.)

I'm independently insured for pet care and house sitting through PCI (Pet Care Insurance). I have a reliable car and valid auto insurance.
