I'm Brooke, a 45-year-old, easy-going animal lover and communications professional. Today I call New York City home, but I am originally from Sydney, Australia.

For me, looking after a pet while I'm away from home is not a chore - it's a bonus!!

Why they want to house sit

Housesitting for other pet owners combines two of my favorite things -cats and travel!

We recently lost our beautiful orange tabby, Franklin, at 19.5 years of age. I would be so delighted to have a kitty to come home to and take care of each day.

I have travelled extensively and often travel solo. I love to soak in the real spirit of a place and live like a local.

Their experience

I am very experienced in cat care, though this is the first time joining a pet-sitting site of this kind.

Our beautiful boy, Franklin, recently passed at 19.5 years of age, so in addition to having lots of general cat experience, I have a lot of experience with senior cats, and cats with medical needs, including oral and injectable medications.

Franklin was an indoor-only cat, so I am very well-versed in the needs of indoor cats, including daily (or more often!) litter changing etc.

What can they bring to the assignment

I'm would be honored to care for your fur babies and your home like my own.

Each of us (animals and humans alike!) has preferences, routines and habits. I will always take care to follow any and all instructions for care of your animals and space.

Cats can always tell that I am a "cat person", but every kitty has their own likes and habits - whether it's playing, getting cuddles or just hanging out. I always let the cat lead so that we can build a comfortable, trusting relationship at the right pace.

I am a city girl, but spent my childhood on a farm, so I am comfortable and equally excited by all kinds of environments: apartments or houses, in the city or the country. I also enjoy gardening, so would be glad to care for your plants (indoor and outdoor) as well!

I understand the importance of clear communication - including getting updates about your pets while you are away (and especially pictures!). I will gladly take your lead on what frequency makes you feel comfortable and connected. (My default is daily!)

My job is to help you have a great vacation, not make arrangements or answer questions for mine. I'm mature, calm, level-headed, a problem solver and, if it matters, I can drive a manual car (stick shift) if it was ever needed in case of an emergency!

I speak English and basic conversational Italian.
