Experienced and reliable pet-sitting couple looking for a short stay (1 - 2 weeks) in your house, anywhere in Europe over summer! (We are escaping the heat in Madrid)

About this sitter

Hello! We are Emily and Jorge, a couple in their 30s who live in Madrid. Emily is from Australia and Jorge is from Spain. We are looking to explore Europe, hang out with some cute pets and escape the heat of Madrid at the same time. Jorge will be working from home, so good wifi is a must, and the only other requirement we have is easy access by public transport to your house and other amenities.

Why they want to house sit

We have done house sitting in Australia and really enjoyed it. Having the company of a pet in the house really makes it feel like home, and it is the perfect way to travel and get to really know a place. We can’t have pets of our own due to a life between Australia and Spain, so pet sitting really scratches that itch.

Their experience

Yes, in Melbourne we looked after a senior cat together through the website AussieHouseSitters, and kept the owner updated every day with photos. Another time we had a foster dog stay with us (organised by our housemate). Emily house-shared with a friend who regularly took in foster dogs, so understands what they need to feel comfortable with strangers and a different environment. Emily has also looked after other people’s dogs on different occasions, including looking after (for two months) a diabetic dog who needed shots of insulin twice a day and a specialised diet.

What can they bring to the assignment

We are both responsible, kind, tidy and trustworthy. We have had experience with animals of all different kinds, with Jorge having a special interest in birds (he had parakeets as a kid), and Emily has had pet rats, tropical fish, stick insects, chickens and a childhood dog. We would love to look after any breed of animal, and won’t shy away from any special needs. Will shower your pets in love while you are away from home. Can also do any light gardening duties if needed (Emily has a green thumb)
