I love being outside and staying busy. I am retired after a successful career in business and as a senior professor, having received my PhD in my 20's. I have always traveled extensively and enjoy being in one place to really learn the rhythm and nuance of a place. I have been to 150-ish countries-I keep meaning to count-and have lived/worked in about 8 countries.
I enjoy the ability, after traveling extensively for many years, to feel more like I am 'living' somewhere, and not just passing through as a tourist.
Yes! I have helped on farms, with gardening and upkeep, and general household care-taking.My partner is sometimes also available when couples are needed (photos include him too!). References provided.
I bring a strong work ethic and a very fit and capable energy level. My belief is you should always leave a place better than you found it - doing what needs to be done and creating peace-of-mind for the owners while they are away. I communicate well, follow directions always, display a positive attitude in all things and never forget I am a fortunate guest in someone's home.

Shelly, Tim, and Pam! Talk about an amazing TRIO! Totally trustworthy, kind, and able to lend a hand in any situation, above and beyond anyone could expect.
Shelly, Tim, and Pam! Talk about an amazing TRIO! Totally trustworthy, kind, and able to lend a hand in any situation, above and beyond anyone could expect. We greatly enjoyed working alongside them and the times we got together to talk and enjoy a meal together. Shelly, a retired college professor, could run a Fortune 500 company! Shelly was super organized and excited to help us. She cleaned and prepared apartments, weeded gardens, pulled out massive amounts of Stinging Nettles, and helped figure out how to solve a lot of problems, like using a soaker hose during a heat wave so our plants wouldn’t dry up. She was constantly making improvements on things we wanted done on the property. Shelly was bound and determined to make numerous trips to the village dump to unload trash that accumulated during renovations and had yet to be removed from the property. Shelly is a problem solver, willingly assists in everything, and manages her way through it all with such Joie de Vivre! Pam is a good friend of Shelly who dropped everything to come along with Shelly before Tim arrived. Pam is delightful and creative, and very dedicated to gardening. Pam created numerous floral arrangements for us with flowers from our gardens. She brought an elegance to every room she helped clean and organize. Pam has a very peaceful spirit, but underneath she is also one of these vibrant global adventurers! Unfortunately, Pam had to leave early, but we were grateful for the time she was here with us and look forward to her coming back! Tim, a brilliant college professor, is also a part-time Forest Firefighter (yeah, you know those heroes who drop everything to stop the spread of fires in the Wild West). Time could literally cut a huge monster tree and make it fall directly on a can placed as a target. Unbelievable! What was so unique was that we had a dead Juniper tree at our entry for over two years and had a hard time finding someone in our village willing to cut this monster down. We were afraid of it falling on a stone wall, the electric circuit box, or the two buildings directly in front of it. What a Godsend Tim was! Talk about a challenge. Tim just smiled and said, “I can do that,” but we didn’t believe him. Then Shelly verified what he said was true!! And he did it! WOW Tim also helped repaint old interior walls, and along with Shelly, cleaned up massive amounts of dead vegetation and stinging nettles, prepared the soil for new trees, and planted many new Oleanders at the entry. Tim and Shelly were also a tremendous help with a Theatre/Chivalry Camp we hosted at our site. They greeted kids and adults alike with warmth and kindness. They participated in making everyone feel really welcome. Lots of fun times together while they were here, and we truly hope they come back someday!
