About this sitter

We’re Jan and Libby, a Dutch-English couple in our late forties/fifties living in the south of the Netherlands. Jan has spent his career managing large outdoor projects — infrastructure, terrain, that sort of thing — so looking after a property comes naturally to him. Libby is originally from Bristol and has always been the one who is creative and loving home decorating. We’re quiet, reliable, and genuinely enjoy being in a home rather than just passing through.

Why they want to house sit

Honestly? We love the idea of actually living somewhere for a bit rather than doing the tourist thing. Libby has family in England so we’re used to spending longer stretches of time there, and we’ve realised we much prefer that pace. House sitting feels like the natural next step — it suits the way we travel and we take the responsibility seriously.

Their experience

Just signed up, but we own our own house and are always busy taking care of it, if it’s in the garden or decorating, we love to be busy in our own pace. Taking care of animals like dogs and cats is no issue, even larger animals as cows or horses is possible

What can they bring to the assignment

Reliability, mainly. Jan will notice if something isn’t right around the house or garden. Libby will make sure your pets are calm, well-fed and probably a little spoiled. We communicate well, we don’t panic, and we treat other people’s homes the way we’d want ours to be treated.
