Aussie with 6 years house and pet sitting experience, studying full-time in NYC

About this sitter

I am 27 years old from Melbourne, Australia and am moving to New York to study my Master's at the end of August 2026. I'm looking for short or long-term house sits that can be both my place to land when I arrive and a way to explore the city while looking after your home and/or pets! I'm looking for somewhere on Manhattan, ideally Lower Manhattan but other than I'm very flexible. I'm experienced with both pet (mainly dogs and cats) sitting and house sitting, and can be very flexible with time spent at home, and walking dogs if needed, as my in-person university hours are not too high so I will mainly be studying at home.

Why they want to house sit

I think house sitting gives me a great opportunity to get to know a new city. Being in someone's home will take the pressure off finding a place and getting set up, while being able to hopefully get local recs from my host! If the sit involves pet sitting (particularly dogs) I think taking them out on walks and too parks is an even better for me to explore. It's a scary move for me so a homey environment to land in and spend my time is also very enticing.

I have been house and pet sitting for over 6 years across Australia and the UK. I have been a house sitter for over 10 people’s homes, both long and short term stays. Some included looking after cats and dogs, as well as smaller pets like fish and hamsters.
I have particularly strong experience looking after puppies and larger breeds like Labradors and Golden Retrievers, as I trained and cared for a guide dog for 12 months. I’m very tidy and have briefly worked as a house cleaner, so I know how to keep a home clean and enjoy it. I propagate and care for my own house plants and feel confident in looking after yours!

What can they bring to the assignment

I am caring and enthusiastic about my space, as reflected in how tidy and clean I keep my home and the places I sit. But also how much I can be trusted with the little extra tasks that go into looking after a home. From watering plants, dusting those hidden surfaces and generally treating a space and everything in it with care.
