About this sitter

I'm a 67 year-old, happily married, very active woman who also knows the value of sitting still and focusing on the 'task at hand,' in this case your loving pets, home and gardens. Now empty nesters either solo or as a couple my husband Jim and I love to travel and in a relaxed way, experience the world and what it offers. We adore all house pets, have 2 older cats (who still play), a chatty parrot and as well in our community dog walk and sit. For years I worked on farm- to-table dinner projects in Virginia so organically became connected to farm animals. Very detail oriented and focused on cleanliness, I'll not only adore your pets I'll also keep your home as clean as it was found and am happy to tend to indoor plants and light outdoor garden work. You'll never have to worry when I (or I and my husband Jim if we both come), come care for your home and pets. You can feel assured they'll be fed, snuggled, walked = happy, and that the instructions you leave will be followed!

Why they want to house sit

Well it started with a great feature I read in the AARP Bulletin newspaper about this service. After pondering I realized now that we're at the stage in our life where we can get up and go (thanks to our neighbor 2 doors down who caringly pet sits for us when we're gone)! I thought I'd register. That's the background, they real 'why' is I know first-hand how worrisome it can be when one chooses to travel but wonders 'how will my pet(s) be when I'm gone?' Clearly there's nothing like their owner, but if I/we can jump in, show compassion and love (not just 'feed') the pet(s) it frees the home-owner up from that worry when they're on the road! The exploring part of where I land is secondary, actually. I'll not plan to hit any sites/spots around until the owner's pet(s) have acclimated to my being there and I'm all settled into the home. Then yes, sure, that's part of it but the pet and household, are 'the' priority. I think it's a great service mindmyhouse has developed, kudos!

Very! Not only as a multiple pet owner, but as a local house and garden, cat, domestic bird, chinchilla sitter and dog walker. Hey I also raised two sons, now 29 and 31 and honestly, that takes all skills.

What can they bring to the assignment

Attention to all detail to all required tasks. Compassion, petting, snuggling and loving all your pets, home cleanliness, light gardening ... an overall caring approach to being at your home and all its nuances. Love to cook at home as well as eat out. If time permits explore local culture though will manage time out of your home exploring with my true focus on your beloved pets and home.
