Why they want to house sit

It is a huge responsibility to care for another’s person’s home and much loved pets. However it brings me joy and purpose to get to know the pets, the owners, and the places that they live.

Having had furred, feathered, and finned pets all my life along with being a home owner for decades I am fully aware of the responsibility that comes with not only caring for cherished pets and property but also choosing someone to do that. Hopefully my life experience can be of comfort to you.
I have a regular return pet sit in my state with a lovely owner and 2 great pups that we refer to as ‘the Kids’. I enjoy that very much. I also cared for a home overseas for about 4 months while the owners were having a health emergency. Stayed with a sweet cat for a weekend. The platform I was using (Trusted House Sitters) raised their prices and I could not justify the cost, although I received 3 sits from that platform (one of which is the regular repeat).

The passing of Patsy whose life's desire was to take care of her 'Girl" provided the opportunity to travel and care for friends and families pets and homes both Stateside and distant lands.

The "Goon Squad" was a trio of good mutts created at our marriage. It included the neighbor's dog who regularly made the two mile journey to hang out.

Aptly named Sir T-Rex (Rex) was a classic Chesapeake Bay Retriever who shared his big heart generously and taught us to be patient with this uniquely determined breed.

A year long commitment to honor a friend's request to care for her two horses was a dream come true for a couple young girls who rose to the occasion.

Along the way there was:

Nehemiah our sweet talking and singing parakeet.

Kuhnie and Sylvester were special felines.

Georgie and Lolita, the goldfish county fair prizes that lived for almost a decade!

Fluffy the tarantula stayed with us for years and brought both amazement and horror to many house guests.
