About this sitter

Hi! I'm Kerby. I'd describe myself as someone who's dependable, easygoing, and genuinely enjoys helping people. My background is pretty diverse—I’ve worked in education, nonprofit organizations, customer service, and community outreach, so I’m used to being someone people can count on. Whether I’m teaching students, helping clients solve problems, or coordinating events, I’ve always been the kind of person who pays attention to details and follows through on my responsibilities.

Outside of work, I've always loved animals, especially cats. I've cared for cats with different personalities and needs, including a disabled cat for an entire month, so I know how important it is to stick to routines and make pets feel safe while their owners are away.

What I'm looking for is the chance to help homeowners feel completely at ease when they travel. I know how much trust goes into handing someone your keys, and I take that seriously. I'm happy to care for pets, water plants, bring in mail, keep everything clean, and make sure your home is just as you left it.

I like building trust through communication, reliability, and respect. My goal is for you to enjoy your trip without wondering how things are going back home because you'll know everything is being well taken care of.

Why they want to house sit

For me, house sitting is the perfect mix of things I already enjoy—taking care of animals, helping people, and being someone others can rely on. Throughout my career in education, customer service, and nonprofit work, I've always enjoyed roles where I could make someone's day a little easier. House sitting feels like a natural extension of that.

I know how stressful it can be to leave your pets and home behind, especially if you're gone for more than a few days. I like being the person who helps take that stress away. Whether it's making sure your pets stay on their routine, sending photo updates, or simply keeping an eye on your home, I want you to be able to focus on your trip instead of worrying about what's happening back home.

One of my favorite parts is getting to know each pet's personality. Every animal is different, and I think that's what makes caring for them so rewarding. Some are playful, some are independent, and some just want someone nearby. I enjoy figuring out what helps them feel comfortable.

At the end of the day, I don't see house sitting as just staying somewhere. It's about being trusted with something that's important to someone else, and I take that responsibility seriously.

Their experience

Yes! I have hands-on experience caring for cats with different needs, including providing month-long care for a disabled cat that required consistency, patience, and close attention to daily routines. I've learned that every pet is different, and I always take the time to understand their personality and stick to the routine they're most comfortable with.

Beyond pet care, I bring a professional mindset. My background includes teaching in both the United States and France, working in nonprofit organizations, coordinating community programs, and years of customer service. Those experiences taught me how to communicate clearly, stay organized, solve problems calmly, and adapt to new situations—all skills that are just as important when caring for someone's home and pets.

What can they bring to the assignment

You can count on me to follow instructions carefully, keep your home clean and secure, collect mail, water plants, take care of small household tasks, and send regular updates if you'd like them. I'm someone who notices the little things, whether it's a change in a pet's behavior or making sure everything is locked up before the end of the day.

Most importantly, I understand that you're trusting me with both your home and members of your family. I don't take that trust for granted, and I'll do everything I can to make sure you come home to happy pets, a well-cared-for home, and complete peace of mind.
