About this sitter

My name is Ludy, and animals have always been at the heart of my life.

I am a fine-art photographer, which gives me the freedom to spend a great deal of time at home and give the animals in my care the time, attention and companionship they deserve.

I genuinely love caring for animals and enjoy becoming part of their everyday routine, whether that means long walks with a dog, spending quiet time with a cat, feeding chickens, or simply being there so they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away.

I have completed 11 house sits so far, caring for many different animals and personalities, which has given me a lot of practical experience and taught me how important it is to adapt to each animal and their individual needs.

I’m looking for house sits where I can offer loving, reliable and responsible care while also having the opportunity to experience everyday life in different places. As a photographer, I particularly love places where I can explore on foot with my camera and then come home to the animals I’m caring for.

Why they want to house sit

For me, house sitting is about much more than travelling. I genuinely enjoy caring for animals and giving homeowners complete peace of mind while they are away.

I love the quiet rhythm of everyday life with animals, going for walks, spending time at home together, getting to know their individual personalities and routines, and making sure they feel safe, relaxed and loved.

There is something very special about temporarily becoming part of an animal’s world and earning their trust. And it is incredibly rewarding to know that their owners can truly enjoy their time away, knowing their pets are happy and being cared for with the same love and attention I would give my own.

My children are older and much more independent now, which has given me a little more freedom to travel on my own from time to time. I really enjoy this new stage of life, having some time for myself, discovering new places and doing something I genuinely love at the same time: caring for animals.

House sitting gives me a way of experiencing places that really suits me. Rather than travelling as a tourist, I love living somewhere for a while, exploring the surroundings on foot with my camera and then coming home to the animals in my care. For me, that combination feels very natural.

Their experience

Yes. I have completed multiple successful house sits, caring for cats, dogs and chickens. Most recently, we cared for two senior cats during a house sit in Brussels, followed by six weeks in the London area, staying in three different homes and caring for Luna, Kiki, Max, Bosco and Betty.

Before that, we completed a six-week house sit near the German border, where we cared for three dogs and six chickens.

I also have experience fostering vulnerable animals. Together with my family, I fostered twenty-five motherless kittens for our local animal shelter. They required intensive care and close attention, and watching them grow into healthy, confident cats and eventually leave for their new families was incredibly rewarding.

All these experiences have taught me patience, careful observation and, above all, that every animal is different. I take the time to understand their individual personality, routines and needs, rather than expecting them to adapt to me.

What can they bring to the assignment

I bring experience, calmness, reliability and genuine care. I naturally enjoy spending plenty of time at home, so the animals in my care receive lots of company, attention and affection.

I am also comfortable caring for animals that need a little extra attention or medication. Together with my family, I fostered twenty-five motherless kittens for our local animal shelter, which gave me experience with strict feeding schedules, administering medication and closely observing changes in an animal’s health and behaviour.

I have also cared for senior cats requiring daily medication and am very comfortable following detailed care and feeding instructions carefully and consistently. I understand how important routines can be, particularly for older animals or pets with health conditions.

I treat someone else’s home with the same respect I would want for my own. I keep things clean and tidy, water plants, collect mail and am happy to take care of the little household tasks that keep everything running smoothly while you are away.

Communication is also very important to me. I will keep you updated with regular messages, photos and videos, so you can enjoy your time away knowing how your pets are doing and that everything at home is in good hands.

My goal is always the same: for you to return to a home that has been lovingly cared for, and to happy, relaxed pets who have felt safe and loved throughout your absence.
