Curious Culinary Couple (aka Retired Chef & Social Worker)

About this sitter

Hi! Maurizio (66) and Barbie (63) are excited about enjoying an epic retirement together after working hard all our lives!!

We are planning our next trip to Europe and are looking for house sitting opportunities in various countries (France, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece) from April to July 2027.

We both love travelling, local/regional cuisine and wine, and have built our life around exploring both our homeland of Australia (in our slide-on camper) and Europe/UK where we both have family (Italy, Ireland & UK).

Maurizio is a retired chef who enjoys cooking for family and friends and often shares his culinary delights with our friends and neighbors down the road. Maurizio also enjoys daily fitness activities which include walking our dog Oscarino, gym workouts and watching European Football.

Barbie is a newly retired Social Worker who enjoys eating Maurizio's culinary delights, keeping her mind and body fit and healthy by swimming, yoga, reading, lifelong learning and walking/hiking with Oscarino.

Why they want to house sit

To meet and help similarly minded people, to immerse ourselves in the day-to-day life and culture of the places we visit and to experience a deeper cultural exchange.

Their experience

We currently look after our neighbors properties when they are away, however we have no previous experience via a formal process.

We are experienced travelers and have always received positive feedback from our hosts, in both air-bnb and private accommodations.

What can they bring to the assignment

We both speak English and Maurizio also speaks fluent Italian.

We have always been very houseproud with Barbie keeping our home in pristine condition inside and Maurizio ensuring the garden/plants/hedges are trimmed and well cared for.

We are both responsible, reliable, physically active and willing to take on various tasks as required, such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, watering plants & general duties associated with house-sitting.
