About this sitter

We are a couple in our 50s (okay, one of us has reluctantly just turned 60!), who is leaving city life behind. The next few years will be about exploring (slowly and gently) in order to decide where we might feel happy to settle again. Or maybe we won't, who knows!
We are +1 (Billy, our lovely cat).

Why they want to house sit

We've been homeowners most of our adult lives, but are lucky to be in a phase of our life where we are changing the script. But the feeling of a base that feels like home, rather than a transient layover, there is nothing like it, isn't there?
We think house sitting is the perfect way to experience places "the real way", the slow way.

Their experience

In our current life, we are the go-to people who look after our neighbours' homes and pets whenever the need arises. We have always been happy to do it, and do it seriously and responsibly.
We have also kind of "fallen into" becoming the caretakers of the small Victorian factory block of flat where we currently live. People seem to have naturally trusted us to be the responsible adults ; )

What can they bring to the assignment

I wonder if we are just homebodies? The feeling of being in a place that is home (ours or someone else's to look after), the contentment we get when it is clean and tidy, and we cook a meal in the evening, you know that feeling?
But more practically, we are adults and responsible, and importantly, respectful.
And if there are pets & animals to take care of, then, what a bonus! We have always lived with cats (and one is travelling with us), but as city dwellers it never felt right to welcome a dog in our life. So we've become those people who have to say hi to all the dogs they are lucky to come close to when out and about.
We are also excited at the opportunity to look after other animals.
Finally, we know taking care of other people's animals is not all cuddles and petting, so when the "various duties" need doing, we are prepared. And Damon is very comfortable with administering meds to pets when necessary.
