About this sitter

Hello, we are Christina and Jörg, a couple in our mid-fifties who have been sharing our lives for more than ten years. Christina is a teacher of English and Economics at a vocational college, and Jörg works as an administrative officer, responsible for the finances of the University of Koblenz. We live in a small village near Koblenz, surrounded by beautiful countryside that we truly appreciate.

Although we each live in our own house – just about 100 metres apart – we are very close and enjoy both our independence and our life together.

We share many interests and love spending our time reading, gardening, hiking, cycling and enjoying watersports. Cooking is another passion of ours, but we also value quiet moments when we can simply be by ourselves. Christina especially enjoys handicrafts and regularly sells her handmade products at our village Christmas market to raise money for sick children. Jörg plays football and is actively involved in the local council, and together we are members of our local heritage society.

We are warm-hearted, sensitive people who care deeply about family and community. Jörg also has a daughter who is 26 years old, and she is an important part of our lives.

We are strict non smokers.

Why they want to house sit

Christina lives with three cats, and Jörg lives with two. All of our cats are rescues from Spain, Bulgaria and Ukraine. Jörg’s cats are mainly looked after by his daughter, but Christina became a member of THS 3 years ago. She did not always want to rely on neighbours to take care of her cats and her house with its large garden — especially since the people who used to help have grown older and more fragile. That is why she started looking for pet and house sitters on this platform.

So we truly understand what it feels like to need someone reliable and caring to look after your home, garden and pets. We have always loved travelling, and by house- and pet-sitting we are able to support like-minded people. We also believe that staying in someone else’s house or apartment gives you the chance to experience everyday life in a different place or country. It opens your mind and broadens your perspective in a very special way.

Their experience

Each of us has our own home with a big garden, and we take care of it ourselves. Only when it comes to cutting the hedges do we sometimes get a little help.

For many years, until Christina separated from her husband, animals were a very important part of her life. She always had dogs – mostly hunting dogs – and a cat. Today she has three wonderful cats, but sadly she had to give up having a dog. Since both of us work full time, it just didn’t feel right to leave a dog alone for so many hours every day. And because her dogs were hunting dogs, they needed a lot of exercise and attention to really be happy.

Her last dog, Hanni, had to be given to very close friends who are loving and experienced with animals. Even though she knows Hanni is in good hands, this decision broke her heart – and, to be honest, it still hurts, even many years later.

That’s why Christina is always happy when people in our village ask her to take their dogs for a walk or to look after them when they need help. It means a lot to her to still have dogs in her life, even if they are not her own.

Christina has always chosen to adopt her dogs from animal shelters. Many of them came with difficult pasts and challenging behaviour, but with her endless love, patience, and dedication, they slowly blossomed into the wonderful, lovable companions they were always meant to be. Of course, being kind and patient was only one part of the journey — Christina also knew when to be firm, always in the dogs’ best interest. She was supported by experienced dog trainers along the way, too.

When Christina still had her beloved dog Hanni at the beginning of our partnership, Jörg was right by her side, deeply involved in caring for her and sharing the responsibility with great devotion.

Since Christina is a homeowner and pet owner herself and has been a member of THS (TrustedHousesitters), we know how valuable reliable and trustworthy house and pet sitters are.
