About this sitter

I’m a curious, independent person who loves travelling, learning and getting to know new places and people. I’m a responsible homeowner and non-smoker, new to house sitting and looking forward to dipping my toes in. I love a quiet day, a good book or a long walk as much as exploring, and I’d be happy to start with a cat sit as I build my experience. I’ll mainly be sitting on my own, although my daughter, a young adult, may occasionally join me. She finds it very hard to resist making friends with a fluffy friend!

Why they want to house sit

I’ve always been more interested in the story behind a place than simply seeing the sights. I like wandering around, finding the local café, chatting to people and imagining what it would be like to actually live there for a while. House sitting seems like a lovely way to do that, while giving someone the reassurance that their home and pets are being looked after.

I also like the exchange at the heart of it: someone gets to go away knowing their home is cared for, and I get the chance to experience somewhere I might otherwise never have discovered. ;-)

Their experience

I’m new to formal house sitting, so I don’t want to pretend I have years of experience that I don’t! I am, however, an experienced homeowner and a regular Airbnb guest, so I’m very conscious of how I’d want someone to treat my own home. I’m clean, tidy, respectful and comfortable following instructions and routines. I’m DBS checked and have character references available, and I’m happy to have a chat with any owner who’d like to get to know me before deciding.

What can they bring to the assignment

I can bring a calm, reliable presence and the reassurance that someone is genuinely looking after your home while you’re away. I’m clean and tidy, respectful of other people’s space and good at following routines and instructions. I’m happy to send updates and flag anything that needs your attention, as I know the worse thing is to be left wondering.

As a homeowner myself, I understand the little things that matter: keeping the place secure, treating belongings with care, and leaving everything clean and as you found it. And if there are pets, I’ll take the time to understand their routines and personalities.
