About this sitter

I'm an experienced animal person without my own animals right now. My job allows me to work from home and I have the ability to spend a lot of time with someone's pets.

My ideal housesit is for a pet parent who prioritizes the wellbeing of their animals: quality food, veterinary care, good bedding, animals have proper safety equipment, training, etc.

The pet parents I want to sit for value a sitter who is insured and bonded because they realize the sitter understands the liability and seriousness of caring for someone's pets and their home. These pet parents understand what constant care would cost for even one pet and realize the value of a sitter who can provide constant care-like service at a standard overnight rate.

I'm looking for interesting house sits - housesits with a livestock guardian dog and the dog's livestock or a housesit with pet ducks.

Traveling isn't a desire of mine but I am willing to travel to the right sit.

Why they want to house sit

Housesitting allows me to spend time with pets in their own environment over multiple days. It's easier to get into a routine for the pets and myself than doing multiple drop-ins per day. I prefer not to drive a lot everyday and I'd like to settle in someplace where I don't have to leave much for the duration of the sit.

Their experience

I am a former K9 Search & Rescue handler. I have over 20 years of caring for my own pets and other people's pets. I have taken care of dogs from 5lbs to 130lbs.

I rode horses from the time I was 9 until adult hood. I was in Pony Club when I was younger and I took animal science courses in in college.

I've fed cows, pigs and sheep. I took a chicken class at the Urban Farm Store in Portland, Oregon.

I've fostered bunnies and cared for a roommate's bunny. I've taken care of a green cheek conure (small parrot). I had gerbils and hamsters as a kid and took home the biology classes boa constrictor during a holiday break. My mother made me keep him near the door so she could be sure it was still in the cage.

I completed Michael Shikashio's master course in K9 aggression and I'm enrolled in Suzanne Clothier's Treat Retreat course.

What can they bring to the assignment

I have pet sitting insurance and I'm bonded. I have Pet First Aid training. I am a member of Pet Sitters International and National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. I use pet sitting software to create custom report cards for pet parents. The report cards include pictures and GPS (when cell service allows for it).
