About this sitter
Simon and Sue , two young at heart England based 60 somethings who now have some time on our hands having retired from work . Both of us worked for many years in public service roles looking after people. We then devoted the last few years to 'grandparent care duties' for our daughters three children under five, and put our house and pet sitting fun on the back burner because of this. These 'duties' have now largely gone and we are again able to do what we want to do! We are non smokers , very light drinkers , not party animals , and Police checked , just looking to use our skills to the benefit of home and pet owners, whilst having fun and adventures at the same time .
Why they want to house sit
We are both animal lovers whilst not wanting to be tied down by having our own , which we have done in the past . To offer a professional service whilst immersing ourselves in local culture , having adventures in new places , indulging our combined love of house and pet care and travelling. To make new friends and to be a good example of what most English people are like.
Their experience
We sat off this site and others for ten years from 2014-2024 , looking after houses without pets, or with dogs and cats , always enjoyable with lots of positive feedback and good reviews , dealing with a few issues on the way . We have sat in the UK, Europe and the US, including a 10 week summer house sit in Crete 2019.
What can they bring to the assignment
Enthusiasm, reliability, good communication skills, calm practical problem solving and DIY skills , kind animal care, love of gardening .

Great house sitters
From the time that we invited Sue and Simon to take care of our house on Crete for a couple of months during summer 2019 we enjoyed excellent communication which served to confirm that we had made the right choice of house sitters and this view was reinforced when we met them on Crete. Fortunately we were able to spend a couple of ‘handover’ days with Simon and Sue and it was quickly apparent that the house and garden would be in good hands during our absence. Obviously a practical and competent couple, Simon and Sue seem to have adapted easily to Crete’s summer heat and dealt with a short-term water shortage without any drama. We had no hesitation offering Simon and Sue use of our car during their stay which was as anticipated handed back cleaned and with a full tank. The original plan was that Sue and Simon would take care of our cat Molly but following a series of accidents and run-ins with the local wildlife we considered it safer for Molly to stay in a cattery during our absence – I think to the disappointment of our house sitters. Sadly we were not able to spend time with Simon and Sue before they left but arrangements for handover of the house and car to our daughter car at Heraklion airport were completed without a hitch.
