About this sitter

Hello, I’m Ginny, a British tutor, mentor and coach currently living in Portugal with my five-year-old Labrador cross, Luna.

I previously lived in London and have worked internationally in China, Oman, Spain, Egypt, the UAE, Romania and the UK. I have also travelled to around 50 countries. I enjoy experiencing places as a temporary local rather than simply passing through as a tourist.

I’m friendly, independent, curious and creative. My interests include comedy, performing, writing, photography, theatre, film, music, dancing, politics and social issues. I try to live authentically, communicate openly and treat other people as I would like to be treated.

I’m particularly interested in longer house sits in the UK and Europe, including peaceful countryside locations. I work remotely, so reliable internet is important. I’m mainly looking for assignments where Luna can join me, subject to careful introductions with any resident animals.

Why they want to house sit

House sitting allows me to combine several things I love: animals, travel, meeting new people and experiencing everyday life in different places.

I enjoy forming a relationship with the animals rather than simply staying somewhere for a few days. Longer sits especially appeal to me because I can settle into a routine, get to know the pets properly and feel connected to the local area.

As I work remotely, I can spend plenty of time at home, offering animals companionship and keeping a regular eye on the property. House sitting also allows Luna and me to explore new places together when she is welcome.

Yes. I have been house and pet sitting through TrustedHousesitters since 2023 and have received 20 reviews. I have completed sits around the UK, including Edinburgh, London and Brighton, as well as using other house-sitting and cultural-exchange platforms during my travels.

I have cared for cats and many different dogs, including a Chihuahua, Whippet, Miniature Dachshund, Spaniel and rescue dogs, each with their own personality and routine. I have also looked after homes, gardens and plants.

Previous homeowners have described me as trustworthy, easygoing, reliable and an excellent communicator. They have particularly appreciated my daily messages and photographs, careful pet care and the clean and tidy homes they returned to. I have also helped when a pet needed veterinary attention.

I spent around six months travelling through South America, including Argentina and Chile, while pet sitting, volunteering and staying with local hosts. These experiences strengthened my independence, flexibility and appreciation for different people, places and animals.

I bring reliability, warmth, good communication and genuine affection for animals. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to know that your pet is safe, relaxed and receiving individual attention while you are away.

I like to give and receive clear instructions so that everyone understands what has been agreed. I will follow your pet’s normal routines, send regular updates and photographs, and contact you promptly if I have any concerns.

I’m clean, respectful and practical, and I will care for your home as well as your animals. Having lived and worked in many countries—including remote environments such as the Omani desert—I’m comfortable adapting, solving everyday problems and managing independently.
