A Couple of Retired Teachers Who Love Cats & Travelling

Jen (65) and Thom(65) and I are a recently retired couple living in Toronto. We would love the opportunity to stay in your home and enjoy the company of your cats. Our main interests are history, art and music. We enjoy exploring larger towns and cities during the day and then returning to a home for a home-cooked dinner and some time with a cat — that would be a perfect day for us. We also enjoy walking, particularly in quieter areas rather than on busy streets.
We are looking for opportunities in the UK and Europe, where we can experience what it feels like to live in a community rather than simply visit as tourists.

Why they want to house sit

Now that we are retired, we would like to spend more time visiting Europe, particularly the UK, where we have relatives and friends. We enjoy visiting them, but don't want to impose by staying with them too often.
Staying in towns and cities and finding out what it feels like to live like a local would suit us. We like to see the sights in the daytime, so waking up with cats and returning to feed the cats and ourselves suits us perfectly.

Their experience

We are new to house sitting, but we have had cats for most of our married life. We usually had two cats, and at one point we had three. Our family has also included hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and rats.
Since 2017, we have travelled in Europe 5 times using VRBO and have enjoyed staying in private homes. We have always treated the homes we stay in with care and respect and currently have five 5-star ratings.
While we have not previously house sat for others, we are very comfortable caring for animals and looking after a home. We have looked after a neighbours home and pets on a daily basis while they travelled and references are available on request.

After more than 40 years of marriage and home ownership, we would treat your home and pets with the same care we use in our own home. We would follow your instructions carefully, and keep your home clean and tidy.
We would want you to feel comfortable and confident while you are away.
