Loving home away from home

We are Layla and Felipe, from Bristol, UK.

We have always loved animals, but unfortunately our current flat doesn’t allow us to have a pet of our own. Our daughter has recently left home to go to university, so we are entering a new and exciting chapter in our lives — and house sitting feels like a wonderful way to combine our love of animals with our love of travelling and experiencing different places.

I’m a full-time baker and I also do dog walking, so I’m very comfortable around dogs and genuinely enjoy spending time with them. My husband has also looked after our neighbours’ cat whenever they are away, so we have experience caring for cats and understand how important it is to maintain their routines and make them feel comfortable at home.

My husband is an environmental engineer and works in a hybrid role, which gives us the flexibility to spend longer periods in different places.

We would love the opportunity to look after pets and a home as if they were our own. We enjoy quiet, relaxed environments, countryside walks, discovering local villages and experiencing a different daily routine.

We really like the idea of experiencing a different environment for a while — enjoying the company of animals and giving their owners peace of mind knowing that their pets are happy, loved and well cared for.

We want to house sit because we see it as a wonderful opportunity to experience a different way of life while doing something we genuinely love, looking after animals.

Their experience

Yes. Although we are relatively new to house sitting, we already have experience caring for animals.

I regularly do dog walking, so I’m comfortable with dogs of different personalities and enjoy giving them plenty of exercise, attention and companionship.

My husband has also looked after our neighbours’ cat whenever they are away, including making sure the cat is fed, comfortable and cared for in its familiar environment.

We understand that every animal is different and that following their normal routine is important. We are happy to follow detailed instructions regarding feeding, walks, medication, playtime and anything else that helps a pet feel secure and happy.

We are responsible, calm and attentive, and we would treat your pets and your home with the same care and respect we would want for our own.

What can they bring to the assignment

We will bring reliability, warmth and genuine care for your pets and your home but most important we bring genuine enthusiasm for animals and the opportunity to give them a loving, reassuring presence while their owners are away.
