About this sitter

Hi, we’re Sandra (37) and Eike (34) from Germany. In Germany, we live in a tiny house on wheels in a garden, which we love. At the same time, we love to travel and want to spend the winters in warmer regions. We’re both very animal-loving people, but due to time and space constraints, we don’t have our own pets. We’re also deeply connected to nature and enjoy alternative lifestyles and like secluded places. But we also love immersing ourselves in other cultures.

We both enjoy yoga, ecstatic dance, singing circles, and going to alternative festivals with friends. We don’t smoke and rarely drink alcohol.

In terms of our professional backgrounds:
Eike is an IT specialist who often works remotely. Sandra studied landscape planning but now works with people with special needs.

Why they want to house sit

We think house- and pet-sitting are a great way to travel to other countries. And we’d love to take care of animals and also have a fixed place to stay. It is a joy to have animals around us :)

We’ve already traveled together through Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos) with our backpacks. Sandra spent a few months backpacking in South America (Chile, Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia). Eike also lived in Spain for two years.

Now, we no longer want to backpacking with a lots of places but prefer to stay in one place. That’s why house-sitting would be ideal for us.

Their experience

We haven’t done house-sitting before, but this year we spent two months at a friend’s property in Portugal, where we spend a lot of time with their two cats and the dog. Last year, Sandra cared for two pigs in Portugal. We’ve also looked after a friend’s dog in Germany when they were traveling. At the assisted living community where Sandra works, there’s also a cat that she takes care of during her shifts.

What can they bring to the assignment

Eike is a trained master carpenter and technically very skilled. He can fix and repair many things and has a lot of know-how in craftsmanship. He enjoys putting these skills to use, as it’s a great balance to his office work.

Sandra loves gardening and taking care of plants—and she prefers things to grow a little wild and natural.
