About this sitter

Hi! We’re Daniela and Fabian, a Swiss couple who love slow travel, caring for animals, and feeling at home in new corners of the world.

Fabian grew up on a farm with cows, chickens, geese, lots of cats, and a dog – animals have always been part of his daily life. Daniela had a dog of her own, and together we spent a year living with and looking after a Golden Retriever, who quickly became part of our routine.

We both enjoy reading, cooking, spending time in nature, and embracing a mindful and simple lifestyle. For us, house sitting is a meaningful way to combine our love for animals with the chance to live like locals and support people who are away from home. We always take great care of any space and pet entrusted to us – with respect, reliability, and genuine affection.

Why they want to house sit

For us, house sitting is more than just a way to travel – it’s a way of life. We enjoy staying in real homes, living like locals, and especially spending time with animals. Being around pets brings us a lot of joy and a sense of calm and connection, no matter where we are in the world.

We’re currently on a long-term journey through different countries, and house sitting allows us to slow down, settle in, and care for animals as if they were our own. It gives us the opportunity to contribute something meaningful while experiencing places in a deeper, more personal way.

Their experience

Over the past year and a half, we have gained extensive house and pet sitting experience through various platforms.

Most of our experience comes from TrustedHousesitters (THS), where we have completed around 15 sits across Switzerland, England, Scotland, Denmark, Japan, and the Netherlands, caring for both cats and dogs.

Through Nomador, we also spent a month looking after two young cats in Switzerland. Additionally, through Workaway, we had the opportunity to care for 16 chickens for an entire month in Norway.

These experiences have allowed us to become very comfortable caring for different animals, adapting to their individual personalities and routines, and looking after homes with care and responsibility.

What can they bring to the assignment

We bring extensive house and pet sitting experience, reliability, flexibility, and a genuine love for animals. Having completed around 15 sits in different countries, we are used to adapting to new environments, following specific instructions, and caring for pets with different personalities and needs.

We are responsible, respectful, and tidy. We treat every home as if it were our own and always make sure that pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. We are also happy to provide regular updates and photos so that homeowners can enjoy their time away with peace of mind.

We speak English, French, Spanish, German, and Swiss German, which makes communicating with homeowners in different countries easy.

For house sits in Europe, we have our own car, giving us additional flexibility and independence.
