Returning to house sitting

About this sitter

I am coming back to house sitting after returning from 6 years living in France. I am a fit 71 yr old, able to turn my hand to most household DIY jobs if necessary. I can deal with emergencies and solve problems as they arise, thanks in some part to 30 years as a police officer. I like a veg patch, especially preparing the soil and planting. In my previous sits, I have cared for nearly all European domestic animals, fish and birds.

Why they want to house sit

I enjoyed the variety of experiences different regions in Europe provide and what can be discovered and learned. For example a British war cemetery in the Veneto region of Italy from WW1, regional cuisines and produce, architecture and customs. I would welcome sits further afield than Europe and amm prepared to travel to most regions.

Their experience

Between 2011 and 2019 I have house sat in France 4 times, Italy, Scotland, Wales and England. The first sit in France involved running gites and caretaking the premises, welcoming guests and dealing with any problems. All involved animals and with close contact and direction from owners some involved reasonable work projects. From living in France I have experience of procedures involving local government and especially presenting a good image to neighbours and respecting their environment.

What can they bring to the assignment

Respect of people's property, possessions, animals and maintaining contact with them...when necessary. Problem solving, maintenance skills. Pool maintenance, garden machinery proficiency, chain saws, rotovators and other light machinery.
